Question:
Can I overclock an Athlon 800mhz cpu on an Asus A7v through the BIOS by
setting higher Cpu freq, without having the RAM freq increasing? If no, is
it bad for the RAM. B4 you answer, i want you to know that i dont have a
clue about what the multiplier-thingie means, its not in the BIOS.
You can increase the FSB in the BIOS with no problems. On my A7V I can't seem to get over 107 though. This seems to be a problem across the board with the KT133 chipsets. As far as the memory goes, if you are using a good quality PC133 RAM, it shouldn't be a problem. If it is you can decrease the RAM setting in the BIOS as well. Why don't you look into closing the L1 bridges? It is problably the easiest mod you can do short of BIOS tweaks. It is nothing more than connecting the dots.

how did u get ur amd to over a gig i cant get mine above 750, tell me the secret?
Luck of the draw I guess.
Although I've had good success overall, some have been better than others. For example I bought a BLUE CORE T-BIRD 750, and you would think that there would be a better chance of the "magic" 1G mark with that one, rather than a lowly DURON 600. Not so, the best thst I could get was 850MHz with that one. Another Duron 600 that I've got "only" hits 981MHz.
I've still got the voltage mods on my ASUS A7V and the multiplier mod on my FIC AZ11. Or if I get bored I can start the whole proccess over again on the latest "must haves", the KT133A or AMD761 chipsets, 266FSB, DDR, RAID, 1.2G CPU etc.
