View Full Version : Need help with 1700 Multiplier Mod
I have never done any pin mods or volt mods...
Aanyways, I have been looking for a very detailed walk-thru explaining how to do the 1700 multiplier mod (unlocking 13x and up). If any of you know where can you post a link?
Thanks...
I thought the 1700+ had 5-18?? Maybe I am wrong..

off the top of my head, only up to 12.5x.
Is your 1700+ tbred B. If it is, then it's already unlocked. My understanding is that your NF7-S motherboard should allow you to access to both low and high range multiplier.
What about Asus Via kt400, A7V8X??

Like Trimai said, the Tbred's are fully unlocked for both lower and upper multipliers. The problem is that some older mobo's and BIOS's do not fully support the higher multipliers (13x and above). These older mobo's can only change the first 4 L3 bridges (5-12.5x).
Therefore, you must connect the 5th bridge manually to access the higher multipliers. When you do this, the actual CPU multiplier will be 8 + whatever you set in the BIOS. For example: if you set the CPU multiplier to 7x in the BIOS, the actual CPU multiplier will be 15x (8+7). Be careful however, because some of the higher multipliers are "remapped" to other values. And your computer may not boot using these other values.
You should really take a look at John C's Website (http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/Workarounds.htm) before you actually try this.
ahhh, I see...I will just have to see..I took my 1700+ to work with me, to make sure nothing would happen to it..2 yr old at home!!
As soon as I get home..I am gonna pop this in, and burn in..I can wait..only gonna burn in for 24 hours though..none of that week crap

All good advice Edward2 except "you must open the 5th bridge...". Must have gotten it mixed up, happens to us sometimes also.;-)
There are also other ways to reset the 5th bit HI, articles at site have ref's to fine wire u-loop/jumpres in sockets, etc.

should be all good on that mobo, it should interpret high/lo properly. if not, blowing the last l3 does work, i just did it. also however had to blow the 3l3 because after blowing the last l3 on my 1700t-bred(11) 11+8 17, reserved multi for mobile chips. wouldn't boot on desktop. blowing the 3rd set my default multi to 13. now works like a charm. only problem is missing multi of 14. jumps from 13 to 15 and up from there. This is the epox board in my sig. at it's a kt333 i did have to modify the chip to gain access to higher multi's than 12.5.
enjoy,
J.
oh yeah.. right now, day 1. sittin @ 167X15 2505. :-D 1.8v
Well, I have the A7V8X with the 1013 Beta bios, and I have ALL the mults, 5x-22.5x
Hope this helps

disregard, brunt..i saw your other post...nice oc....
Thank you, Its a nice chip!
hmm... i have the multi's, but will not post at 13x and above. any suggestions?
Hmm, well Check the latest BIOS? Try to lower the fsb to 100, and post at 13, if you do, then you have the mults, and should be at roughly 1.3ghz..that also means that your cpu just cant handle 166*13 or above. If it doesn't post, then you just dont have the mults. ...?? anyone else?

thanks for the input... i think i'm just gonna roll back my fsb to around 154 due to my memory giving me random problems with a few games ...
