I wonder what technologies AMD will do next.
How long will the socket A last?
Will they overtake intel again?
Will they continue to be cheap or give over to the greed of money.
These are all important to the future of computing.
I wonder how fast chips will be in five years?
20 Ghz
None of us will know!

I dont know about those other questions, those are less technical related things.. I do remember reading on the front page that AMD is going to stay with the Socket A platform as long as they are with the Athlon in some sort of fashion - which means Duron, Thunderbird, Morgan, Palomino, and any other Mustang core processors will be Socket A. The first AMD processors to stray from Socket A will be Clawhammer and Sledgehammer. Are you listening, Intel? you had the right idea with P2 and P3 (slot 1 or socket 370 with slocket) but all this garbage with FCPGA-2 on Tualatin and the new 423 P4 socket (which will soon be replaced by a different P4 socket) but now you're reaching into our pants again for a new mobo every time Intel owners decide they need a new processor. IMHO Intel's moves in the next 9 months decide where they go - back to being a competitor in the performance market, or else they choose to live off their waning dominance in the business world as the consumer/performance market becomes dominated by AMD. I hope you have a lot up your sleeve with Itanium, intel, otherwise your kids are going to be eating less and less every night. Ahh, how the mighty have fallen!!

I agree SickBoy, I think intel is going to screw the pooch hard if they arent' careful. I got disgusted with intel because of their "less then agressive" pricing scheme, and AMD's ability to stomp Intel in the speed game, heh, Intel still dosen't have an "offical" over 1+Ghz cpu...heehee, not to mention that they are locked up tight from us overclockers....well, intel just dosent' make a real good choice as far as I can see it... :)
