View Full Version : NEED BEST CPU FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi!
Could someone please tell me what is the best CPU fan and heatsink available for the AMD 1.2Ghz CPU.
Please tell me where i can find it, need web site.
And all the additional stuff i need (Termal stuff)
Thx.
Globalwin's FOP38 is the best fan around in my opinion. It will cover that 1.2 nice. www.globalwin.com.tw
Check out www.coolerguys.com they have Arctic silver and every cooling stuff. and I think cooling also defend on your taste of noise vs. cooling.....
Usually better air cooling means more noise (Exp. Noise Control Silverado). In case of 'Silverado', you can't buy it right now in US also expensive(Around $70). Best cooling worst noise pick is Swiftech MC402(Around $70). So most people settle down at PEP 66t, FOP38, FOP32-1, PEL6035MFC. With those heat sink you can get reasonably good cooling. Fan choice with those heatsink will vary the result of cooling and nose. Delta fan noisy but very good cooling, Sunnon fan no noise but poor cooling, YS little noisy but good cooling. I strongly recommend you to check out few site for lineup like www4.tomshardware.com and right here. I ordered PEL6035MFC with Delta fan(I also considered weight).
If U want a good cooler I would consider the Globalwin FOP32 or FOP38 if U can stand the noise.
Also a good cooler I'm using is the thermoengine but get a good YS-Tech fan cos the stock fan is crap.
U can find all this stuff + arctic silver 2 @

I as usual disagree, sort of, The FOP38 is an excellent cooler but another alternative would be the Vantec FCE 62540D. Same fan as FOP38, slightly larger HS (im pretty sure) and cools the EXACT same, both cooled an oc'ed tbird to 34.5 in tests. Only reason i recomend this as opposed to FOP38 is its a tad cheaper and ive heard (dosent mean its right) that the clipping system is a tad eaisyer. Its the cooler im buying for my duron 650. The guys above are right as usual, arctic sliver ect ect. I believe the 2 HSF's are very close and its a matter of personal preferance. Either way they'll cool nice.

How about the thermoengine I quite like it first it looks cool and second it keeps cool and the clip is very easy to mount.

It is possible to buy the swiftech MC462 without a fan - so you could buy a much quieter, but lower cfm fan. I don't know how this would affect performance, but considering that the heatsink itself is huge and it's an 80mm fan (which could give you the same airflow as the Delta 60mm, ie 38cfm, but much quieter), I'd have thought it would still outperform the rest. Plus the price drops from $80 to $60 without the fan, so if you have a spare 80mm fan lying around it's definitely worth thinking about.

I've heard great reviews of the Alpha 6035... the delta's are noisy as all hell, the YS-Tech's are better, but from what a lot of places have said, the Sanyo Denki fan is quiet as a whisper, and yet, works like a charm.
Also, think about cooling your RAM, Video card/VRAM, and other heated items in the case... you can never have too many heatsinks/fans, as long as you can stand the noise...
The Swiftech sounds like an aircraft engine, ive heard them...

Great Review of fans/HS combos...

Out of all the tests/reviews that I have seen and trust, seems to me the Swiftech MC462 is best, when disregarding other concerns (noise, cost, etc). Yeah, it's $80, but like mr. Cork said above, buying it w/o a fan (and adding a high CFM 80 MM fan) seems like a smart idea if you dont like the stock fan. Other than that I say PEP66 in vertical configuration is next best (and is a lot cheaper).

I hear Alpha's are great. Their heatsinks have so much surface area also.
Where can you purchase the YS versino of the Alpha 6035? I've only seed Sunnon and Delta.
I've heard that the FOP-32/38's arn't that great.....they are so loud and don't cool as well as others. That's just what I've heard.

Sharky, I am with you 100% about Sanyo Denki, I modified my 60x60 Cooler Master, DP5-6H51, with a 80x80 Sanyo Denki, Petit Ace, 28dba, 36 cfm, 2900 rpm. Another Sanyo in front sucks air in, one more in the back blows out. With all those, idle, my 7X122mhz=854mhz Tbird gets around 25C never higher than 30C, and never get higher than 35C full load. And It is very quiet though.
For me the best for the money is the Alpha PAL 6035 with the delta 38 fan on it. IMHO, for the price, you can't do any better. you can get one here: 2cooltek (http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/1/cat1.htm?482)
any thing with a 60mm delta on it will drive you nuts my hedge hog was a very good hsf kept my 1ghz@1246 around 40C but that high pitch winning was to much
my swiftech 462 A is a dam nice fan, with the optional rheostat I can dial the fan down with minimal loss of performance , and its a lot less noisy than the delta, this fan kept my 1ghz at 37C, and is now keeping my 1.2 266 tbird at 43C full load, i dont think this fan can be beat , also most of the reviews on hsf are in my opinion faulty and bias, if you want the real truth look here these guys have went the extra mile to insure accuracy in testing hsf

Kat is right.
The MC-462A has an obnoxious noisy and overkill (for most uses) fan. The good news is The design of the fan is very forward thinking in terms of reducing turbulence and general unstable airflow in the presence of static pressure. At full speed, it will drive you crazy, but with the addition of an inexpensive rheostat you can control the speed and ensuing noise, yet retain the anti-turbulence attribute.
It's funny to have someone stop by, reach over and turn up that speed control while saying something like, "hang on, I'm turning up the power" ;D
Currently, the Swiftech MC-462A is IMHO, the King of Air Cooling.

I've got a FOP38 on my Tbird 1GHz/266@1.2Ghz (8x150), after running Prime95 for over 8 hours, temp never got about 39C. Also, using Artic Silver 2.
