Is pure acetone ok to use on the heatsink and cpu to clean out the wax?
I used rubbing alcohol... isopropyl
I think you can use like 99 percent ethanol.. 70 percent ethanol... haven't used acetone... sounds like it'll work...

Yeah it is alright on the core, I believe, but it will eat the top layer of the pcb off so you have to be careful.
i try rubbing alcohol then, the eating away part scares me with the acetone :)

lol, it would scare me too. rubbing alcohol is usually sufficient. you'd want to use 90% rubbing alcohol though, makes it a lot easier.

Been using acetone straight-up for cleaning electronics for some fourteen years... Great stuff, but keep it well away from plastics. For thermal-pad removal, it's always worked better than anything else I've tried.
