View Full Version : Help...System won't boot after golden bridge trick
I just did the golden bridge trick on my 700 Duron and now the thing won't even boot. My mobo is an Abit KT7-Raid. It was working well before I jumpered them.It won't even get my monitor out of standby when I turn the power switch on.
Thanks for any help that anybody can provide

Maybe try to redo them. If it's done in pencil, it's easier to remove. Could have crossed between the bridges. A good thing to do is remove whatever you put on, then try to boot before redoing it. That way you know the cpu is o.k..
Yeah I did try erasing the marks and it made no difference. I did use a good pencil lead and I was very careful about the marks I made. Could I have possibly damaged the processor?

That's possible. But first, did you change the cmos jumper on the board? Another is do you have the fan plugged into the right place for your cpu. The kt7a has to be plugged into the fan #1 header. I think the're both the same. Then you might want to try lightly wiping the bridges off with alcohol, and making sure it's dry. Last thing I can think of is to look at it under a magnifying glass to see if any of the sides of the core have been broken. Please let me know how things turn out.... Another thing that comes to mind is the power switch wire. If it's not on the right connection, the system won't get anywhere neither.
Pulled the chip back out this morning and sure enough one of the corners is chipped. Cheap CPU cooler. Now I get to go shopping for a new chip. Thanks for all the help.

My condolences to you and your system. Really sorry to hear that. Maybe we could have a three gun salute for your cpu and a firing squad for the hs.
