Because my video card has an S-video connector and my monitor has an svideo port, and I have a cable, so will it do anything to plug it in?

I've never seen a monitor with an svideo port...
It should work. Go ahead and plug it in and see. I've never used the TV before, so I don't know of any possible resolution problems.

You probably don't need to, and I'm pretty sure you won't get as nice of a picture as you would with a regular monitor cable.

What kind of a monitor is it?

Definately don't have to. I can't image a use for it on the monitor unless it's supposed to integrate your entertainment center.

The S-video is of lesser quality than the DB15 or DVI connectors.

However, FYI, S-video is better than composite video.

It must be dual purpose, capable of attaching a DVD or TV tuner.
Don't hook it up
