what is folding

ok i have a post in here saying i want to use alot of machines to fold but need to know how but first i want to know what folding does some one told me its for some medical thing is this true if not what is the point of folding

Folding is a Biology experiment investigating how proteins behave. We model this on computers to see how they "mis-fold".

This (http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding) is the homepage of the project, run by a group at Stanford University. 700 people on this forum do it as a team for overclockers.com. If you decide to do it please feel free to bother us with questions.

If you want a more detailed answer our stickies an give you a thorough reply but to all intents and purposes, yes. It's an on-line science experiment.

Its all about being a part of a massive effort to find cures for disease by having your unused CPU cycles crunch numbers for Stanford's Folding@Home distributed computing project...All you really need is a computer with an internet connection and a desire to be a part of the project...You'll LOVE it...:D

It's a group of people who fold under the same name. Why these particular people? Well, we all fold for OC, and we are all ninjas :)
