View Full Version : Temp questions
I know you've probly had this a million times already, and I am sorry if it does annoy you. Alright, i have my 2.53 (533 Fsb) @ 3.0, all is well and fine until I start.. playing games etc.. my ambient temp seems to be fairly accurate (around 35-39c), but after a while under load I check the winbond probe thingy and wtf.. 56c O_o
Does this sound quite right ? I mean, damn.. thats hot isn't it?
Could it be that I have my voltage set to high ?
And the heatsink is barely warm when I touch it
I am using arctiv silver 3 on the hs&f + cpu. Any thoughts and ideas would be much welcome :D
Your ambient temperature is pretty high and you do have it overclocked to 3 ghz. I would say that the temps are within the acceptable level. I would check the heatsink to make sure that you don't have too much or too little AS3 and it is seated properly. I live in the desert with temps just as high and recently my temps have gotten to 47 on full load and I'm running my 2.4 at stock. Hope this info helps a little.
Yer it does, kinda.. I was just freaking out cause I saw 56c on that winbond probe thingy... i've never seen it that high D:
And now it just seems to idle in the 50s.. :(

56c is really not too too hot by most standards, plus the contention that the sensors in abit boards are known to over-report temperatures. I don't even like mine to DISPLAY over 53-54 though, because I am this anal sort of person. What is your voltage? Nice heatsink too... how much ASIII did you put on it? I just re-did mine with a thinner layer (using ceramique on a 7000Cu here). Temperature dropped by 1-2c full load at a given moment. I guess when you have a heatsink milled as flat as these 7000s then a little bit of grease goes a long way.
Well heres the thing, I used a thing layer of as3 btw, but I was playing a game for a few hours last night and the temp was reading about 40-45c. But later on while I was compiling some video i checked after and it said 55c... but I took the side off my case so I could test to see if this was maybe remotely true, and my heatsing was stilll cool to the touch
I havn't noticed any performance drops that could be triggered by the thermala protection or anything like that either..
My voltage is @ 1.6v
Memory timings 2.5-3-3-7
ram voltage 2.6v
But yeah, I was thinking that maybe it could be reporting it about 10c or so too high, but when I check the temps every other time they seem to be fairly accurate. O_o

it could be that the program that compiles your video puts more stress on the cpu than whatever game you were playing and therefore further increased your temps, but that's just a theory that happens to fit the facts.
Hrmm... good point , but I would have thought that the gpu would be able to handle everything :(
