anyone know of any free software that will run on Linux that can host a server?

girlfriend wants to host one for a game she plays.

i frequent a few forums that use phpBB. from the client side it's pretty good, i don't know anything anout the admin side of phpBB though.

Hmm.. DOnt know about server or anything, but my lil bro uses suddenlaunch.com it looks fairly decent too.. ESP if she isnt too good with computers

Invision and PHPBB are nice. They're both really easy, mostly just a preference thing. I personally prefer PHPBB.

There's a board software that runs on Linux/Windows called discus. There is a free version and a full version. Its quite easy to set up and use, on both windows and linux, I run it on both OS's and it works great. link: http://www.discusware.com/

Not that I know alot about them, but I couldn't end up getting phpBB to run, tho I like it the best.

As a part of PHPDEV, Invision boards were extremely easy to setup, just one click pretty much to install.
