Rig specs,

NF7-S v1.2
2x512 corsair 3200LL
Windows XP

I am swapping out my Tbred 2400 for a Barton 2800. Can I simply put in the Barton and it will be recognized correctly and the extra cache be used? Or, do I need to change some BIOS setting and/or reinstall my O/S?

Thanks for the help.

Just drop it in and go boot up, the os will find the extra cache. I had no problems at all when I upgraded my A7N8X from a Tbred B 2100 to my 2500 Barton.

The motherboard that you have will fully recognize the new CPU if you juyt drop it in. Make sure to reset the CMOS though after you switch the CPU's.

Why is CMOS reset necessary, again?

Please post info on how this upgrade helped you.

Did you actually notice improvement from 2100+ to 2500+, and if so how?

Thanks for the help guys!

I just plopped the barton in, reset the CMOS, and let it rip. Everything is working great.

c627627, if he plopped the 2800 in there without resetting the CMOS, the overclocked perameters for his 2400 would still be saved. With this motherboard, if that happens, an error comes up that says "blah blah blah CPU is unworkable or has changed Press F1 to continue". I was just telling him beforehand to reset the CMOS so he didnt get that error message and ask what it meant. ;)
