View Full Version : Umm wtf? Weird temps on IS7

Ok, I'm getting some weird temp readings. After figuring out which diode went with what, it turns out my IS7 is reading 50C on load for my system. This is VERY suspect considering this same exact watercooling configuration was able to keep a 2.4B at 30-32C on full load ALL DAY LONG. Anyone have a clue what's going on here?
What are you using to report those temps?
MBM??
BIOS??
Hardware Doctor??

All three I get strange temps.
Have you tried remounting your block & making sure you have the proper amount of HS compund on it? Also might sound stupid but make sure you have the latest BIOS.

Remounted 3 times and yeah, I got the latest BIOS./
Any other changes to your system? Added or removed case fans? Added new hardware that is making the case temps rise? Ambient temps higher? What are the differences from when you got those temps before to the temps now?
Was the previous system using an Abit motherboard? Every Abit board I have had reports temps high.

Yeah, I was using an Asus before. After looking around some, it seems a lot of people are reporting abnormally high temps. I don't seem to have a stability issue and according to Abit's temp calculations, I'm still operating well within safe temp parameters. I guess I'll just live with this until Abit fixes it :).

the abit intel motherboards are notorious for faulty temperature readings. they all read about 10-15C too high for some reason.
in fact i read in one of the official abit temp. threads that the abit motherbaords use an i/o chip to calculate what the temperature is at approximately, so its not accurate at all.
i ordered myself a compunurse and i will put that diode on.

I would kill for 50c load temps on an IS7. The last one I built at stock FSB/voltage got to 60c +.

Well, it seems like Abit is taking the stance, "we didn't or won't admit that we do/did anything wrong with our implementation and/or calculations, so if you've got a problem, tough sh*t." Regardless, I think they're aware of the problem and are looking into it. I wouldn't hold my breath for a BIOS update/fix though.

I'm usually at 48C idle and 50C load - Yeah right. If it's working fine, then don't worry about temps - especially if you're using a good air cooling unit, which I'm sure you are.

what's your temp at idle?...with water cool...load shouldn't exceed +10C
