HI everyone,
Please could someone tell me, wether copper shims are worth buying cos i heard they're pretty good. And also what and how is the best method of putting arctic paste on when using a copper shim?
Thanks
Richard
If you bought a shim for protecting your core, then good. If you bought a shim for improved cooling, then bad. They don't help. I've seen more posts supporting a non-conductive thermal grease for the shim than a conductve grease. Now AS isn't supposed to be a conductive threat, so go whichever way you choose.
As far as shim quality goes, I've seen them reviewed a time or two around the OC Web pages. Do some searching as I don't recall where exactly. Fit and Finish are probably the biggest factors.

I have a shim on my T-birds and they work great for what I'm using them for, (not crunching my core with the HSF) I didn't put any paste on the shim, just on the core and my temps are pretty good. For 9 or 11 bucks or whatever I paid for them, they are worth the money just to be sure I dont crush the core with the HSF.
shim`s are good for 1 mabey 2C and thats it
if you realy want to make a big improvment combine copper with arctic silver and high cfm ;D
