I've been folding for a while now, but haven't been in this forum hardly at all (once, i think ;)). I'm just running the standard graphical client on my main rig, folding 3.33Ghz for T32.
Because i haven't been in here for a while, i feel there may be many things i'm missing out on or that i can do to increase folding, or any new terms or goals.
So i'm just doing a little update here so to speak, is there anything else i should know? or is my current folding (out-of-the-box) going just fine?
Thanks, ArBiTaL24.

ArBiTaL, I am in the same boat as you. I been folding for a year, but I think I only came to these forums twice before now. :D
-advmethods -forceasm
'Nuff said :)

What's that?
(-advmethods -forceasm)

Often means faster folding, especially for AMD rigs. They are flags.

there extra launch parameters for the folding client, add them on to the end of you shortcut in the startup folder if you use the graphical client like you said. I.e. in the shortcut target is says something like C:\program files\folding\fah.exe add the tags onto the end like C:\program files\folding\fah.exe -advmethods -forceasm The advmethods flag makes sure you get gromacs work units when they are available, generally speaking they give better PPW because they can be folded faster with relation to the amnount of points they are worth. The forceasm flag ensures that the SSE instructions of the processor stay on, it willdecrease the time it takes you to complete a WU but may cause the cpu to get a little hotter so watch the temps!

Cool:)
(i thought that they might be file launch extensions :))
EDIT: damn, it doesn't work :( (says cannot be found, or something :()

are you sure you edited the shortcut properly? there should be a space after .exe for example folding.exe -forceasm and not folding.exe-forceasm
:)

I get that too, thats why I just switched to the console. I have XP, would that make a difference?

AFAIK that shouldnt make any difference, i use the console and EM3 myself as its far superior in my opinion.

Did you put in speech marks?
"C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\winFAH.exe" -forceasm -advmethods
Try that.
To check it worked, go into the log file (Right-click over the red icon, go to "Status", then "Log file").

yeah, [code ] is good. and it's ASCII. so all the characters are the same width. Handy for math stuff :)
