just pushed my brand new just delivered today 1.33G thunderbird (266 fsb) up to 1.65 on a abit kt7a with 256mb of pc160 ram (courtesy overclockerzstore).
I have a global winfop 38 with the 80mm fan on it and run the case completely open

If you buy one, the chip will have to be unlocked via the L1 though (at least mine was, I took a trip to the local electronic repair shop for some silver soldering work to be done :-).
12.5 was the highest multiplier I could set it to, so the fsb mod will be needed which I found for me to be held back by the ram, dont even think of using generic pc133, even my crucial pc133 cas 2 didnt hold up!

reasonable price on the chip, it was only $299.00 plus $10.00 shipping- check pricewatch for vendors

***PS- had some crash issues, went down to 1590 and has been rock stable with a burn in test for 3 hours using sisoft sandra and unreal set to demo loop

**PPS- does anyone think that a watercooler will help here, I am running at 51C- will a 156 watt peltier and water cooler even work with that kind of cpu wattage?? perhaps putting the water cooler on the cpu and thermal epoxying a peltier to the outside part of the water reservior (in effect making the water below freezing temp using distilled water, watter wetter and radiator fluid)

any thoughts would be appreciated!!

You STILL had to unlock your cpu?? I thought starting with 1.2GHZ, 266MHZ FSB c-code chips, they already came unlocked from the factory! At least this is what i've been hearing everywhere. I was on the verge of buying one, just to have a factory unlocked chip without worry of my penciling job (i use a conductive pen) ever being an issue.

fireball:

I too found the 1.33ghz chips just today.. a lot of the ones on pricewatch have an eta of sometime next week, or in two weeks. This place has them it appears in stock but i dunno.. http://www.spartantech.com/Items/cpus.asp?OrderID=103075463390963381528853#amd. $294 for the 200fsb version (< why?) and $309 for the 266 version.. i would hope for that much cash it was already unlocked. bah.

12.5 X 133.333 Mhz = 1666.666 Mhz and 140 X 12.5 = 1750 Mhz what FSB Mod are you talking about.
As far as Crucial 133 Cas 2 Mem goes it will run fine up to 150 Mhz at Cas 2 settings. Most KT7A and KT7A Raid will do 140 to 145 Mhz with out raising VIO up to 3.5 or 3.6 V and then top out at around 150 Mhz.
Where did the chip come from Japan? As far as I know that is the only place that has them for sell at present time. If you have connections as to how to get one share the information.

Read "A Newbie Trap". I gathered from that article that the 266 is locked 9x133 versus the 200 being 12x100 (read unlocked).

he needs to post benchmarks like i did to prove the speed! its funny because my chip doesnt say anything about a C in cpuid. But on the chip itself it says 1200 266. And it was factory unlocked, with a redish/purple core. I know this because it doesnt look like my blue core on my duron 700.

I only did the first voltage mod to go from 1533 to get 1600 so i bet if i did the other one i could almost get 1700. Currently 1600 is stable but i have booted at 1624 and it ran windows fine. I like to play it safe!!!
happy benchmarking.

<<<<<<<GO TO PRICEWATCH>COM>>>>>>>>>
type in 1.33G athlon
there are two places selling them instock, spartantech and Micropro online, price is 295-310
I dont need to prove anything with a benchmark post (in fact I dont even know how to upload one here)- just do yourself a favor and go buy one of these chips if you want some real speed
