View Full Version : Anyone else read "A Newbie Trap"?
Always agree with Ed, or not, this article is a good example of why I call Overclockers.com my OC Home.
You can count on Ed to be:
Disturbing (Add $10.00)
Humorous (Add $12.00)
Thought Provoking (Add $15.00)
Informative (Add $17.00)
Revelationary (Add $20.00)
On some "Wild Ass" rant (Call for RMA number)
;D
Hoot
I enjoyed the article but didn't entirely agree. While it's true most of the new Tbirds are shipping unlocked, not all of them are. For some it's worth the assurance that they won't have to mess with penciling in order to get an unlocked cpu.
I do agree that the premium on blues is a bit of a crock. Still, given the choice at the same price I would go with the blue just to hedge my bets. While it appears that Dresden no longer exclusively produces blues, it's still nice to be sure you're getting copper instead of aluminum. Not all 1.2 Tbirds are copper of course.
I think the biggest problem with the "newbie trap" is the failure to clearly define the pros and cons of these various cpus. They just present a long list of options without demystifying the differences.
can you post the link to this article? i tried to look through the site but didn't see anything...
I read and enjoyed the artical too.
