Well I got SWG today. It's a great game, and I love it. I was having trouble earlier. I was getting owned by pretty much everything.

I hooked up with rugbyroy (Karp in game) and he gave me some credits (thanks!) so I could fly to Keren and do some missions.

We did some missions and I got some EXP. Had a lof of fun.

Here are my Q's

1. When does everyone normally get on?
2. What are some easy ways to make money? ( i am a marksman)
3. Why dont we start collecting funds for a PA?

Im on tatooine right now and there's a lot of faction fighting between imps and rebs now (im covert rebel right now)
for money I usually do an hour of rebel delivery missions in anchorhead, good quick money and an efficient way to get faction points.

we should all wind up at the same planet for us to think about starting up a PA. Im having too much fun on tatooine, Naboo and corellia seem a bit dull for me right now :D Im planning on going to jabba's palace and also go see a krayt dragon at the graveyard(and probably die in the process)

i played again tonight and i loved it. i met up with Vanimelda (NASsoccer) and we went hunting in Lok. that place was hard as ****. They left early, but i got with a great group and got some major XP.

go buy this game! we need more o/c players so we can start our own PA!!!!

Dude...I think it depends on the profession you took there Fox.

Im a Creature handler/Bio Engineer/Entertainer. So far CH is the funnest and best class I took. Bio Engineer is screwed to no end and is totally broken right now. Right now they need to fix a lot of stuff because a lot of crafting arts are totally messed up.

You have to open the force sensitivity slot. Nobody knows for sure what it is to do that....

I heard it was like 3000 apprentice points....But for all your work if you do get Jedi and die I think more than 3 times....You are Perm deathed.

Jedi sounds cool...But a jedi would have a tough time against my 3 Frenzied Grauls...LOL

Usually hang out on Tatooine in eisley/bestine and sometimes other places doin BH missions or hunts/etc

Easy way to make money & XP: Go to Lok and go langlatch missions....quite possibly the easiest mob in the game...you can run circles around the things

Ive played starwars galaxies alot in since it came out, and i have decided its too boring to play any longer, fighters dont even get to click to fight things like in diablo it just automatically does it, and artisans are so tedious to level up. They need more dynamic game play.= [

I decided to be an Imperial because of the people I met in game, the people who ahve actually helped me and such were imperial, and I was usually in Bestine so that was a factor too. Imperials have more benefits than rebels as well I believe. We can get AT-ST's. Did you know that stormtrooper armor pieces are at least 2000 faction points each???? I think it's the best armor that can be had though.

Stormtrooper armor is nice but thats an aweful lot of points for armor that cant be repaired... I personally love my new composite armor with 29% bonus to all and 39k durability :)

I am seriously considering joining the imperials, I think there are way too many darn rebels at the moment.

I'm an imperial right now, and one of the people I know just picked up the stomtrooper helmet...30% protection to everything except acid and something else. Unfortunately, I'm an alien and the 3x multiplier is just running me into the ground and its not worth it....so I'm jumping ship to the rebels, even if they don't have as good of faction perks...hell...maybe I'll just stay nuetral.

Like Dano, I was very dissapointed when I got to novice BH and found that the missions were pretty much the same boring story plots, with NPCS that are dumber than a box of rocks. Sure, they may be powerful, but the same strategy works for each guy every time, it just takes patience. The missions don't have much depth to them at all, there isn't any follow up communications/etc...just not very interesting...I've gotten sort of tired of the same destroy missions over and over and over again....and even faction-based raids get sort of boring.....if you're not turned off first by the sheer volume of l33t-speak 12 year olds that are completely rude and obnoxious.

Definately looking foward to more interesting missions and other things they have in development, tho....player mounts, p2p bounties (maybe), speeder bikes, story plots/etc...i don't think i'll be playing hardcore like i have been tho....things are just so repetitive...

Many other ways to make money if thats why, if its for faction you can get plenty of faction other ways aswell.

I keep seeing people complaining about how the game is boring because missions suck and so on......dont do missions lol.
Make some friends, go big game hunting, take out opposing factions bases, explore, go to battlefields.
Last night we got 20ish rebels together to take out a large imperial base which was manned by about 30 imperial NPC's, we died a bit but it was fun and netted about 700 faction points and a couple nifty minor items.

May I ask how you make money? I harvest all I can get...sell for 3-5/each....have a maxed out mining operation on tatooine....and do lots of quick missions and I still seem to eat through that cash pretty quick.

Also, which battlefields are active and when? I've done a couple NPC imperial battlefields and they were fun, but I never seem to know when pvp battlefields are planned and I don't seem to see these plans on the board. :(

I make about 70k a day from mining and selling it all and about 10k or so a day from hides and bones I gather during my hunting.

I also do special order mining for a couple master smiths which can be quite profitable.
When they need a paticularly rare metal or other component I go out (usually off planet) and find it and mine it for them. They are willing to pay alot to be able to continue working on their trade rather then mining themselves.
I generally get about 25k for finding the ore unless they have a location and 8-1 for the actual ore. 8-1 is a little pricey but as I am generally hand sampling or only have a single mining installaton on it I have to charge a good amount.

My income averages about 100k a day, no its not a ton of money but what could you possibly need that would cost that much at this time in the game ?

I have no idea where imperial battlefields are as I am a rebel...

Wow I am very poor compared to you I make about 5k a day just doing a few missions, though recently Ive been getting around 10+ because of all the groups I've been in, any suggestions on how I make that much dough.

Either pick up a profitable tradeskill and grind it or set up 9 harvesters preferably medium size or larger and sell the ore.

I am going for smuggler, which seems like it would be a profitable profession, since you can at the very least slice people's weapons for 2k a piece.

im working on smuggler right now also, need about 50k of pistol and unarmed specialization to reach novice level. make sure you try to save up as many locked containers as possible. because its a pain waiting around bank/mission terminals screaming "WILL UNLOCK CONTAINERS FOR FREE!" just to get some exp. I got 10 locked containers in my safe deposit :D.

btw. shouldn't we combine this thread with the larger one?

not sure how well this fits here (im not sure it does at all, but i dont want to start another thread :D ) but... how does SWG get along with 56k (yeah, so i live under a rock in the middle of nowhere :D ). Kinda wanted to know, before i waste money on it like I did with PlanetSide (great game, but any encounter thats fun with a bunch of people, gets unbareble).

SWG seems like a great game, but I dont think it would bring me much enjoyment when its sittin on my desk cause i cant play it on a 56k.

At this point in time the scylla server still gets a bit laggy in cities and I'm on cable, so I'd shy away from swg on 56k if I were you. It is a great game and you should probably move to somewhere where high speed internet is readily available. That's all I have to say about that.

As of this mornings patch or whatever it was I lost 4 extractors/wind gens, a whole heap of resources and energy and I now get disconnected every 10 to fifteen minutes. This game is quickly going down the tubes for me. I think that if it doesn't get better soon I'll just use my free month subscription and that's it for me. How am I supposed to play if 1/4 of the time I'm rebooting the game?! I need to go strangle some devs..

Same crap for me, i've lost about 300,000 credits worth of stuff in the last few days to bugs including my insanely expensive set of composite armor.

I also had a problem with my guy where after healing wounds/damage i would only get like 85% of the stats back so after a few days i had 3 stats in the negatives.

Finally just deleted Xanthen.

Guys don't worry, Scylla is my first choice in servers. I just really can't play in it at the moment because it's unplayable for me. I'm sure the problem will get fixed in time, but for now I'm on TC because it works. As far as getting on TC I had some problems at first, but I just did a full scan instead of the quick scan and it worked fine after that. I'm home for the weekend to watch Manchester United kick the horse pies out of Barcelona at the new stadium in philly, but I'll be back monday. Hopefully scylla will be better so I can get to making some nasty weapons for us all.

I thought SWG was fun for like 2-3 weeks... then I got bored. I was in late Beta BTW. Even taking away the server problems and bugs there wasn't enough in the game to keep me playing retail. I'm having fun playing Planetside now (trial)...

i've had the game for about a week now. i think i have nothing left to do.

-lots and lots of money
-nice composite armor
-lots of nice sliced weapons like laser rifle and scout blaster (need T21)
-own a rancor and gurrek
-have my own store/house
-lots of harvestors

hopefully the big patch will add some new gameplay. i cant see this game going on for very long at the current state. eventually everyone will be uber1337 with lots of money and nice weapons/pets.

Anyone else find SWG was a dissapointment? Dont get me wrong, i love the Star Wars' movies, concepts, worlds, and ideas ABSOLUTELY but it was such a let down. I payed $83 for the collector's edition and didnt even play my whole free month. It was so boring to me and i tried every skill. I guess its cause im froma UO mmo and Diablo 2 life, where you made yourself good and it wasnt just "yeah click this, watch it run at me, watch it die, go to another one, oh look it changed colors now i can attack this monster" I dunno...i guess im just on my soapbox :p This isnt a flame by any means

Well a big lasting factor is the galactic civil war, ya know the whole imperial vs rebel thing. And you are not uber till you can 1v1 a krayt, I doubt you tried all professions, the advanced ones are much more enjoyable than the starting ones, if you guys need a goal head for master bouonty hunter, and theres always the force sensitive thing to look forward to.

no i didint mean i tried every advance profession...i tried every base profession but i worked on the path to bounty hunter alot and didnt enjoy it....

I actually am getting into the Medic profession. I'm nearly a master medic and it's nice to join hunting parties and heal everybody easily. I also sometimes like just chilling in the med center in theed for a while and just shootin the s**t and healing everybody that comes in. I've also taken up a mini quest of my own: To look rediculous. I already have a silly hat, now I need a crazy multicolor dreamcoat... See you guys in theed.

Finally I reached Smuggler today. after about 6 hrs of killing rill, womp rats, worrts I got to be a smuggler. the tougher thing about smuggling is that i need to start sampling materials, get locked containers to get slicing exp.


any of you guys have locked containers, some extra copper laying around (so i can make precision knifes), or any surveying tools that you can give to a struggling smuggler?

and a quick question, how do you guys make money? most of my income is from doing anchorhead runs (which is horrible). I am chronically broke. :crys:

the engineer is basically used as a stepping stone for higher elite classes, such as droid engineer, weaponsmith, architect and armorsmith. I am an engineer and it's useful sometimes, as people can usually use things I can make, but it is a crafting profession which means one thing.. grinding. If you want to gain any skill levels quickly (well, relatively quickly... takes a while) you have to just make one thing over and over again. It's repititive as heck and not enjoyable. I have novice weaponsmith and by my calculations it would take me about three days of nothing but boring grinding to gain one skill, and everything I can make for about a month at that rate would suck. nobody would buy it. feel free to ask any questions about the game, and if you do buy it we're all on scylla. My name is karp in game so /tell me when ya get on and I'll help ya out ..

Last night I was with a hunting group on Dantooine. That is one nasty planet, filled with all kinds of sick creatures including Dark Jedi Masters! They were droppin 1.2k hits on the pets! I had a hell of a time keeping everybody out of the clone center.. Also get about 3k xp from each one, and if there's a good group they're not too tough. If anybody wants to get a group up to hunt sometime msg me and I'd be happy to go with you. I'll make sure to have D stims a plenty =)

anyone out there make high quality fwg5's. all the ones scylla are pretty weak. my scout is so much better right now. Ive heard of people getting nice fwg5 quick attack speeds (below 3) and high damage (up to 200 damage). willing to pay any price (within reason)

btw. I got spice IV (Fence) now so anyone one who wants some Neutron Pixie (the best spice available) give me a tell. We'll work out some sort of deal :D.

Well i made it off rori to naboo, i still dont know what im doing so im just taking simple delivery mission to make money. Im getting my rear end kicked around by anything and everybody. edit: Ok after logging on several hours in the game, i still dont think i made any progress. i did manage to gain one skill level within the brawler class, and decided to pick up couple of other novice classes, marksman, medic, and scout. So far it's been really boring wondering around alone. Umm i think i need a pistol or some other range weapon because all i have is a sword and i get killed real easly.

Hey guys, just to let yall know I've opened up a shop south of theed. I'll have B stims a plenty. I forget the coords atm, but it's a large generic nearly straight south of the theed marker on the map. Also, Xanth (Jeff) and I have joined the imperial side... apparantly the perks were too great.. that and I like and work around theed which is very imperial. There are just too many rebels out there. Either way my stims rock. I have them at 350 base with only one advanced component in them. Once I get master Doc I'll have them doing quite a bit better. I'm aiming for 400, but that might be wishfull thinking. Either way send me a tell if you want to order some. I can put 20 in a crate so space won't be an issue. Send a tell to Karp for anything.

I just bought one from a master weaponsmith last night for 9k. It does up to 151 damage and the speed is like 1.9 He said once I get it sliced it should do up to 200 dmg.

There is swimming, and why do you need to jump? Do you jump alot in real life? I don't see what I would be able to do better, or how it would be more fun, if I were able to jump in the game.

to answer the question, yeah theres jumping in the game, but its more for the visual effect then anything, you cant jump over rocks and such. this isn't a twitchy jumping, aiming first person shooter. it is a rpg. hence the "rpg" in mmorpg.

Well Ive been thinking about, the whole PvP Rebel vs Imperial thing, and it seems to be an utter waste of time right now. there is no real ingame benefits from killing an opposing faction member besides personal glory and a few faction points. I know about the battlefields and such but who really goes and fights there (except for the hardcore).

and on other matters Ive mentioned eariler about the possibility of forming a PA, basically a netural one so we can accomidate both Imp and rebel players. (im not sure if thats possible) and im seriously thinking about going neutral, being a rebel isn't paying off both entertainment-wise and economically. Some ideas as to what the goals of the PA would be nice. Personally a PA of underground merchants that cater to both sides of the war would be fun. (selling to the highest bidder)

things we would need to accompish this:
1. a master architect for the PA hall
2. a base of operations (a planet where we can get a pretty good foothold) perhaps naboo or tatooine
3. a name that is appropriate and also maybe incorporates the OC mentality
4. some designitated positions, resourse gatherers, crafters, etc.
(I really wish smugglers can actually "smuggle" stuff :()

If you need a master doctor then you can count me in. I'm becoming more and more disgusted at the huge numbers of fickle *******s flocking to the imp side. There will be no rebels in the galaxy in roughly a week. I'm not gonna lie, I switched sides too, but not solely for the pets. I wanted to try it out. That being said I think I'd like to be neutral. I don't really fight much so I don't have a use for my stupid st. I'll admit that having an at st on command would rock, but I don't really want to grind faction points. I like your idea about catering to either side, but I don't think that there will be much of an "either" side soon. I know an architect that could probably hook us up with a pa hall, but I'd need to give him a buttload of resources first. Also, I don't play much anymore so I wouldn't be much use other than making rockin stims for fellow pa members.
