I couldnt wait for a 266 so i got a 200 and an epox8kta3. The chip is factory unlocked but it will not post at 9x133 or even 8x133. Is voltage going to help here ? This board is annoying me, setting a jumper each time to go to 133-166. I know i should have got a 266 and I will. Any one Know a good reason Why I should keep this 200 ?

upping or lowering your voltage may help.. just try it... or maybe your temperature is shooting through the roof.. what temps are you getting?

temps are fine.fop 38, this chip blows !!! Im gonna burn it and get my money back ! then get a 266.

instead of changing the chip why not change the board to abit or asus i know you can get you 1.2 up to at least 1.4 or more i have on an abit kt7a raid and all my friends have done almost the same or more using stock heatsink fan .just something to think about.

Some people find you have to boot at the lower multiplier at 100MHz, then switch off, set the jumper to 133MHZ, and boot up again. I expect you've already tried that though - beyond that I'm not sure what the problem could be, other than the cpu itself (I think it's unlikely to be the mobo).

Are your friends overclocking the fsb past 133 if not im not interested. Im pretty sure this is the right board for me i just have a bad chip.
thnx.

Maybe your power supply can't handle the high speeds. try removing everything that uses power except for the necessities and see if it will boot higher. what is the maximum speed the cpu will post at if u leave the bus speed below 133? i know with my iwill i need to reset the cmos and put the jumper on 100.....then go into bios and set the multiplyer low (try 6).... then boot...shutdown...set the jumper to 133 or more :)

THERE IT IS AGAIN A 266 mother board and Problems with the 1.2 200 fsb processor.

It may be fixable with a lot of jerking around,BUT SHAME ON THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP SAYING THE 1.2 200FSB IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE 1.2 266FSB.I GUESS THE 66 FSB PROCESSORS WERE EXACTILY THE SAME AS THE 100 FSB.
Worse of all is the people who state thay are the same never owned a 1.2 processor. It is like taking advice for legal problems from a phone operator at the law office !!!

I have seen this problem at least 20 times on different motherboards.MSI,IWILL,EPOXY,I truly wish the people who do not own a 1.2 Would stop telling everyone that the 200fsb is the same.

Consider this please, the 1.2 for some reason is unique and often you get trouble putting a 200fsb in a 266fsb motherboard.I dont Know why this is but if you visit several AMD Ocing sites the problem is there with these 1.2 processors. Now for advice Get the correct processor.

if you have a comp usa near you they have a sale on today. a 400 watt cheapo-brand psu for 73 bucks. i had a 300 watt in my case and my pc would get the beep of death at 1300, with the 400 i can get into the bios and try to boot windows at up to 1366 (although it won't run it at over 1300). anyway my power supply was defiantely holding me back. this guy elder roasted his 300 watt psu trying to boot his new 1.2 ghz :( If you can get to compuse and score that power supply, you can always return it and get your money back if it isn't the problem. If you dont mind waiting you can probably get a better 400 watt psu like antec's for about 90 bucks with shipping. btw, I don't have any trouble with the 200 bus cpu rather than the 266 bus except for 2 things. 1- the 266 cpu is relatively newer than the 200 and therefore you have a better chance at getting a more overclockable cpu, 2) when you set your cpu too fast or your multi too high you have to boot your cpu 1 extra time and also move a jumper on the mobo (iwill and others)twice. now that the 266 prices are only maybe 10 bucks more than a 200 i would defanetly recommend getting a 266. i'm rma'ing mine back and getting one myself as i would like to get up near 1500 if possible :) good luck bro

Thanks, ill follow your lead in the morning and maybe ditch this 250psu for something bigger.
