Just raising the fsb to 133 on an abit kt7a-raid or do I still need to unlock the the cpu? What I am trying to do is, take a 750mhz tbird and o/c to a gig or higher and to me the simplest way would be to set it at 7.5x133=998mhz. Am I correct with this thinking? Any help or links will help. thanks

u dont have to unlock it.
it's a 100 FSB chip, with a 7.5 multiplyer.
that comes out to 7.5x133
997.5
thats a gig.
do it.
u mite have to raise Vcore a bit to stabilize system.

I like my man above says also have a 750 T-Bird (sweet ass chip by the way...TFC never looked so good) would like to overclock. Now my question is...suppose we can get it to 7.5x133 (1gig...nearly) would it run faster that way then say...unlocking it and making the multiplier higher and the FSB lower? I assuming this chip goes up to a small bit above a gig...but with that it wouldn't be running at 133FSB? I guess what I mean is...is it worth the extra 50/100/150 MhZ to unlock the chip when you don't have to?
I'll just get a better cooler (FOP38 right?) and tinker with the voltage (if needs be) is this kosher?

higher FSB means faster memory, and data transfer, and alot of good stuff.
FSB 4 life.

im in the same boat, just bought duron 800 and kt7a-raid. i pretty much decided to just mess with fsb rather than mess with unlocking it. just make sure you have 133 ram or you wont get there. oh and you'll definately have to raise voltage. awesome board!!!!!!

I recently set my computer to 112FSB (it wouldn't boot at 133) with no additional cooling. (my fan says it can cool up to 850MhZ on the product site my OC was 840) It ran fine...but i had the for thought to set the temperature gauge to shut the computer down at 60C.
I was surfing the web and sure enough...it shut down...do you think this is a voltage problem or think the temp went above 60C?
When i restarted after it shut down the temp was 53C...odd...
anyways i ain't touching it again till i get an Alpha/FOP/Millenium fan...can't be too cautious...

Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting an 850 just to be on the safe side so if all else fails I can at least lower the multiplier and run the fsb at 133 to get at least a gig. I'll post back and let everyone know how it goes.

Oh and akuma, I wouldn't mess with overclocking till you get your new cooler. The heat sensor was most likely the problem.

Just Raise The FSB!

The best and most stable way is to have the FSB as HIGH as possible -if the FSB is higher, it will perform better than the same mhz then if the Multiplier was raised=FSB is better trust ME-

I just got my tbird 750 going a (9*133) wait a sec thats 1200mhz. woo hoo. God I love this chip. still running default voltage too. If only the old man I bought it from could see what his slow old ship was doing now. I bought a 1gig tbird and sold this one to me for $50.00 Stupid stupid old man..
