Background music doesn't play on websites...

I am actually posting this for a friend (The updated security owned him....hahaha...Touche!).

This is what he wrote:

I have trouble hearing background music on webpages. In fact, it doesn't play at all. This only happens when the music is in WMA format. I hear wav, mp3, etc. fine. My internet explorer is configured to play sounds and background music. How can I fix this?

Is he able to hear WMA in a Media Player? (Windows Media Player - Winamp - Real Player)?
If not then his WMA Codec may have been corrupted.

EDIT: I had to fix my horrendous spelling.
