without opening up the chip (just yet)
I can set this sucker to 7.5 (multiplier is locked? not in BIOS on ****ty Gigabyte board)x112=840MhZ
I'm sure I'll need a cooler FOP38? www.coolerguys.com?
Arctic Silver or no? If I use it I'd put it on the bottom of the HSF?
This is all new to me...but not THAT new.
Gimme a hand?
Also...it says the FOP38 should draw power from the CPU fan as opposed to where the power for my fan is now...that being said...if the cord is long enough could i use the current HSF as a CPU cooler??
by the by I have a
T-Bird 750@840 (i hope :-))
256MB Cas2 ns8 RAM
GigaByte GA-7ZX mobo
KT133 chipset
Thanks a load...

christ people...help a brother out here!
been nearly 24 hours and 16 reads and nothing?
no one's heard of actic silver and FOP38 fan?
and i thought i was new ^_^;
Sorry Buddy I am confused.
Put a dab of silver on the die of the CPU (not too much). Put the fan on and connect it to the board so that you can monitor it in windows and the bios. Use a conductive pen or the like to unlock the CPU multiplier and bump up the multiplier settings. Then up the Front Side Bus settings untill it is unstable and then back it off a bit. Look around at the current posts and web sites for instructions on howto do this. This information is fairly easy to come by.
First I have to tell you that I am very new to the whole overclocking scene. In fact, although I bought my first computer in 92 (a 286 10MHz 640Kb ram 40mg hard drive) I am about to build my first computer. I ordered half the parts already and next payday (friday) I will order the rest. While researching the parts needed I looked into the GA-7zx. And unless I'm wrong the Gigabyte has no way to manipulate the i/o voltage or the multiplyer. After reading many post on the gigabyte the only way to overclock it is with the front side bus.

I'd recommend an Alpha heat sink over the FOP because of the clip that Globalwin uses. If you use Arctic Silver, a paper thin layer on the CPU die is all that you need. :)
Ditto, A 6032 I believe (I have a hard time with numbers) With a Delta fan would be an excellent choice. Also, I do not appriciate the previous personal attack "goddamn you". If you wish for a decent answer you must provide a question that makes sense.

simmer down there dude...it wasn't a personal attack
I said "god damn them" referring to Giga-Bye and a board that you CAN NOT change the mutiplier...wouldn't that tick you off? I don't know how you EVER got it in your head that I insulted you in any way shape or form...anyway all I can do is **** with the FSB...and then all i could ever get it to is 112x7.5=840
oh well...but i do not insult people up in here. I ain't wired that way.
Thanks for the help
