I just aquired 2 256MB sticks of Kingston HyperX 3500 for my Epox 8RDA+/Barton 2500 combo. My first question is if anyone has the same combo and their experiences with it...Good/Bad etc.

The next question is one a little more interesting as far as "Gee Whiz" info goes. When I went to purchase this RAM there were 3 sticks....2 of which had a rating of 2.5 volts and the other was marked 2.6 volts. I also noticed that the two 2.5 versions had the same batch number (I surmise it is the batch number anyway....it is just before the voltage rating and is 1178820) and the other had a different number starting with 112. I chose the matched pair at 2.5 volts. They are all 256MB 3500 HyperX. Anyone know why they are different and which would be better. I guessed that it would be better to have the matched set especially at a lower voltage. Thanks!!

I am looking into the same thing and just posted to another, similar thread here. This is what I said:

I just picked up two over the last week from Best Buy here in Springfield, IL, and have been debating how to approach them with my EP-8RDA+ system...

This system currently has a AMD 1700+ that hasn't been pushed (OC) yet, an ATI 9500PRO, etc. I will be changing it around by putting a new retail 2500+ Barton in there, one that I do plan to OC, but am perplexed about what RAM configuration.

It currently has two-PNY PC2100 (actually rebadged PC2700) 256MB chips in it but I now have one Kingston Value Ram 512MB PC2700 with Micron chips and two Kingston HyperX PC3500 256MB Ram chips.

The 1700+ will go into another PC that will also have an EP-8RDA+ in it and then I will deal with that next...

Anyway, I have now read that HyperX can be found in 2.5V and 2.6V - and one has had issues...?

I realize each situation is somewhat unique but I am curious to hear from others and learn more about what to do with my particular setup. My son and I have built two PC's so far but our experience is limited (scared actually) when it comes to messing with overclocking.

I know we have some great equipment - the 1700+ is actually a rebadged 2700+ and should easily reach 2.2 according to what I have read - and this PC has the 9500Pro, and so will the new one when I receive the EP-8RDA+ from NewEgg this week, and we have good ANTEC PS 350W and HS/F setups, we can go with the onboard sound but also have two Turtle Beach Santa Cruz cards.

I just want to make sure I start out right with the HyperX PC 3500 chips and that they are properly matched with the best opportunity with regard to voltages, etc.

So hit me with your thoughts, comments and questions. I love to problem-solve but not smoke PC equipment!

Thanks!!!
