View Full Version : Multiplier Issues with Duron 700/A7V - Please Help...

Hopefully someone can give me an idea or two. I jumped on the "tracetape" bandwagon and it seems to be working except for one little thing - I cannot get the multiplier to 10 or beyond. With the dipswitch set on 10, it posts at 900 (100x9). At 10.5, it posts at 950 (100x9.5). Using CPUID, these CPU speeds are accurate, so it's not just an invalid BIOS reading. Is there a specific L-1 bridge that controls specific multiplier options, or is it an all or nothing proposition? My temps are fine - 45 under load w/9.5x103@1.80 (927mhz). Please speak up if this has happened to you and especially if you know what to do about it...
Thanks,
Dog Wizard
First I have to say that I don't know that tape-thing very well.
Can u do the closing of the L1 again? If yes try that. For me it sounds like the L1's aren't closed good enough, but as I said, I don't know that tape very well.
Try to do the L1's again, and let me hear how it went, OK?
BTW 9,5x103 is not 927, it's 978MHz.

Thanks,
Yeah - you're right about the 927/978 thing, basic math always was a problem...Actually I was looking at the vast collection of sticky notes on my bench instead of the dip switches. Sorry for any confusion. Have you had any L-1 issues where if only some of them were correctly closed you could still get partial functionality? Anyone else? (don't be frightened...it's all be o.k.)
Thanks again,

I've just read a post about a dude who bought 3 packs of that tape, and he couldn't get it work at all. Have u tried the pencil trick?
Yeah man I had the same probelm. The tape probably sucks. Use the pencil trick and make sure you use a mechanical pencil with a steady hand. Trace them good, but don't connect the pencil in points together. It will work I guarantee it...I think! :) Try it!
