Well, I'm doing a demo in my security course tommorrow that requires a system, so I decided to finish up the new sun case and use it to hold the demo system. :) (Think people in class will think I'm nuts? hehe!)
Anyway, I wrapped it up this weekend, after giving the windows a few days to cure. (Used liquid nails to attach the windows...which worked VERY well.)
Anyway, here's what I've done, and what I will still want to do in the future.
I first decided to paint the back side of the inside of the case metallic black. It looks pretty cool as you'll see, and I think I'll be using that color in the future as a case color. I found out pretty quickly once I attached the back side panel that with the window, there is simply NO clearance between the mobo tray and the rear side panel. Becuase the mobo tray "folds" down on all 4 sides, it nearly touches the window there.
Yes, it's a perfect fit, but at the same time, my idea of mounting a UV cold cathode on the side in the front to shine over the backside of the mobo tray is on hold. The light simply wont get past the lip on the left backside of the mobo tray. I'll eventually grind down that edge and repaint the back of the mobo tray.
Until then, I did install the two red CC's in the front side. Once everything was together, it just looked so cool!
Right now the system is assembled in a temporary fashion. I'm using two black removable hdd enclosures that I would probably not use in this case. (They're part of the demo) I've also installed a HDD encryption device in the lower 3.5 inch bay. It's ugly white-ish beige, and wouldn't be kept that way without a repaint! But that is the main part of the demo. (I'm demonstrating how these units work and what happens if your drive is stolen, btw)
Anyway, having all that junk in that case made things tight for wire routing, but I kept it pretty clean so you can get a good view. The window looks darn cool. :)
Oh, and when I installed a PSU in it, I realized that looked pretty bad, so I took apart the PSU and sprayed it black metallic as well. (It's a Deer 400w unit I got with a cheiftec case)
Anyway, enough of my rambling, here's some pics!
