I did the exact same thing to my 9500, and it won't even post now. If anyone know's a solution to this please post it.

I thought it was the VM I did, but now that I see this happened to someone else, I'm not so sure.

I think the card is dead.......

that should kill the card at all. i dont really know what happends there.

just try resetting everythign back to defults in the bios.

giving something no power shouldnt make it fry (overload)...

makes no sense... could always do a fresh install of EVERYTHING... or RMA...

The ATI cards are supposed to have protection against being damaged if the aux power isn't plugged in. Like you said it came up with that message. But if for some reason it tried pulling that power through the AGP slot, its possible your AGP got fried. Try another video card and see what happens.

I have forgotten to plug my aux power connector in many times. You get a msg saying turn off and plug it in... and thats that. My card still works fine. Its probably someting else causing your problems.

Yeah, the first time I plugged my R9700 in I totally forgot in my excitment. It gave the message and I turned the comp off and plugged it in and voila.. It worked fine and still runs in my system.

I've done the same thing too several times. I just get that message and my machine will refuse to boot. After I powerdown and plug it back in, it works just fine.

Did you reconnect it while the machine was on?

hell no,

I believe the error message says to turn off and then connect it.

Hmmm, ok I got no error message........

So I guess it was the VM then.

Have you tried re-seating the card ,
that sometimes helps.

I have had the same results as everyone else,
just a warning - and works when wired up.

Not you, the first guy. His post didn't make it clear. If one panicked and tried jamming it in there real quick that might cause some damage.

I thought it was a general question to everyone who has accidentely left the aux power unplugged. I also just like saying hell.
