is there any way to go around the L2 multiplier?
At 1050 mhz my 800 L2 becomes 416 mhz. which doesnt bother me, but i GUESS my system doesnt like it .
I have no problems @ 1050 , but i cant get it to boot to windows much above 1050. I've tried Mathlon but it doesnt seem to work.
Any suggestions?

You really need to provide more info. 1050 out of an 800 isn't a bad overclock. What mobo, TBird or Duron, RAM, etc?

sorry about that here's more info
k7800 athlon w/ 512 L2 cache w/ TD2 GFD,2/5 L2 multiplier,? n.s. access?,but i do have the #'s from my processor:
plastic cover- k7800MPR52B
PWB - 1000042-001
samsung 010 chips- K7C203615A-OC33
core #'s- 7950CNRBEA, K0030800775, and OD23MPMW. I dont what they all mean but those are all the #'s on the processor
cooled by an Alpha P-7125 heatsink
clocked to 1050 mhz (105 x 10 ), V-core 1.85
abit ka7 mobo flashed w/ TY versions bios
768 mb pc-133 cl3 sdram (2-256, 2-128)
Do you need anymore info?
Please let me know I could use lots of help i'm a newbie, still just learning the basics.

The math figures your L2 out to 420 at a 2/5 setting.

Drop the L2 to 1/3 then you will be at 350 on the L2

Then try to clock it higher,Basicly I think the slot will max at 1050,1100 is very unusual,The reason is in theroy The L2 has a max mhz transfer rate of 350.So any combo over 1050 is not likely,BUT AS AN OVERCLOCKER I HAVE SEEN MOST ANYTHING WORK WE ARE QUITE A BUNCH !!!

sorry about that diehrd.
your right it is 420, i'm a newbie, and playing with it more i did get 1080 (108 x 10 ) @ 1.9v
got great Sandra benches on CPU:
ALU - 3002 MIPS
FPU- 1520 MFLOPS

MMX Enh- 6012 it/s
FL.P 3D NOW- 7258 it/s
but my memory bandwidth was terrible, didnt write those down but they were low 300's, system didnt crash but i definitly noticed the performance loss.
I've tried to lower my multiplier to 1/3 using a program called Mathlon, it does not seem to work, but it boots like it is, meaning it identifies my processor and says successfully configured but Sandra still only see's 2/5 and i'm still at 420mhz when at 1050.
How else can i lower it to 1/3? Please help.

That the asus or abit board ???What ever it is go to the manufactures site and research the bios upgrades some will give you the L2 cache adjustment as an upgrade My asus K7V got the L2 adjustment when I upgraded bios.

But do this first Leave it at 1050 or 1000.Go into bios and set up the advanced chipset features.READ MANUAL,But basicly you can set the ram to run cas 2,and also set its speed like 7ns or 8ns.{Lower is better} Also check out tweakfiles.com there is a program that will allow you to set 4 way interleave on the ram This is a big boos in ram performance. Also set up the hard drive depending on your dma 33,66 or 100.

These tips are off topic a bit but will impact performance in a big way.

Abit board already flashed to the most recent bios, TY, and there is a L2 setting in the softmenu i have set for NEC/SEC bsram for 1/3,but the way the settings are; uhm? hard for me to explain, i have options: default, 0-9, 3 is suppose to be the NEC/SEC setting for 1/3 that is what i have it set at.
I've tried most of them and still in Sandra it shows 2/5.
My harddrives' are both maxtor 1-30,1-15g. @ 7200 rpm ATA 66 already set.
I'll try to lower ram speed and latency to 2, thanks, and 4-way is already set, option came with TY version of bios.
Do you have Sandra? if so does it show your multiplier correct?
I'm not that good with a solder gun! lol
