Ok I finally downloaded the video and I must say, this game looks AMAZING. This is really a revolutionary step in terms of computer gaming visuals. The first ten minutes of the video focus on the graphics engine and how they were able to incorporate much more complex ineractive scenes. HL2 seems like we're really getting to the point of walking around in a breathing world instead of just lookinjg at pretty wallpaper.
Now, here are my concerns:
After the first ten minutes, they show some game play. Paradigm change? Although it is far too early to definitively say, it doesn't appear like the gameplay has advanced as much as the graphics. Is it just me, or does this seem a little disappointing? Although the game is about a billion times more beautiful than anything out on the market today, it still seems like the same old run and shoot gameplay we're all familiar with. With all these beautiful graphics/physics/AI/emotion breakthroughs, I thought we would have more than the old 'pair 'o hands sticking out of the bottom of the screen' paradigm holding a 'bludgeoning and/or projectile weapon.'
