View Full Version : Pencil trick?? (No, I'm not asking how do you do the pencil trick.)

I'll be firing up my first self-built system for the first time this weekend and I am kind of paranoid. I've done the pencil trick and I'm 99% sure it's done right.

What is the potential damage that can be done to a cpu if the "trick" is done wrong? Thanks a bunch.

as far as i have heard if you used a lead pencil for the trick you can just erase the pecil marks...also just make sure the parrallel lines you drew are not touching each other...i dont have much experience with it, but thats what i have heard.

I haven't read about any damage that can be done from an incorrect unlocking attemp. The only thing I have heard is that the multipliers come out all wrong, i.e.: 12X may come up as 6X and stuff like that. If it is done wrong you can always erase it anyhow. If you intend on using a defogger or conductive pen, be sure that you do it right as its really a pain to redo them. Good luck!!! :-)
