I fried my CPU trying to OC but AMD will never know that will they? Plus its covered in siler AS3 Paste, but that comes off with nail polish remover right, it definetly doesn't look fried anyone?

If you send it back to them they will know that you fried it and they will not replace it for you - if you are lucky they might mail it back with a polite note.
I am pretty sure that the warranty department of AMD has some fairly advanced testing measures that are capable of finding out how the chip died.
How did you fry it anyways?
Is that even ethical? You ruined it but you want them to give you a new one?
well first of all if you clean all the as3 off of it as long as there is no physical damage i'm sure they won't know how it dies. The question is are you ethical or not. First rule of overclockiong if you can't afford to fry it; don't try it. The second problem is why didi it fry. you said by overclocking but what did you do give it 2.2v or something or did you get as3 which is electrically conductive all over the chip and not just on the die. If you rma it you might get another one you might not. but if you don't figure out what you did wrong you'll just do it again.

Uh Oh- This could turn O.E.M VERY quickly (older members will remember what I mean).
Here's some hints about what AMD will/may look for...
AS3- or any Thermal Interface Material, it's a common fact that AMD look for any T.I.M that is not the standard compound that AMD ship with their chips.
Wiping off the AS3 won't help, nor will washing it- the only way you can REALLY get any sort of T.I.M off of a chip is by lapping... permenant and easily noticable damage.
Blown resistors from over-volting, but they will only look for that IF they think something's gone wrong. Just because YOU can't see anything wrong... don't mean that they won't notice anything.
If AMD tell you to bugger off and stop wasting their time- I'll be in the front pointing and laughing!!
Have A Nice Day
With them running so low priced nowadays, wouldn't it be easier to just get another one? xp1700 right?

is this why amd is having financial problems? People buy there dirt cheap 1700+'s can't OC them, then they fry them and then RMA it for another.. this is most likely why there losing tons of money....

Dont RMA it since you broke it. if you were AMD do you want yoru customers to return things they broke?? its not very ethical. Just but a new 1700+ its dirt cheap
