View Full Version : Best processor for the money?
What is the best T-Bird/Duron for overclocking as far as the most bang for the buck? Also, what is good RAM to overclock with. I have an Abit KT7-RAID mobo.
I'd have to say it's hard to go wrong with the 600 Duron. Mine is currently running at 1000MHz and has been at 1050. This with a $9 fan and heatsink from TCWO

ive heard some people have had relly good luck with the 950 t-birds. also the 650 and 800 are pretty notores overclockers to. :)
I'd suggest going to the CPU database and check the results of what others have gotten. Start with that, then see what you can find. The prices were dropping quite a bit, see what's available and then decide. Keep in mind that just because there are a lot of 600's @ 950 or 800's @ 1100 you may not be so lucky. case in point, I have a blue core T-BIRD 650 that won't go over 850, that's called the luck of the draw.
By the way, I've got DURON 600 @ 1.1GHz
Disregard the signature, that was last week. I'm at 1.1GHZ now
Best bang for buck is the 600 Duron. Mine goes 10x100 at 1.85V and the core temp differential is only 13C above system temp.
Hoot
Just got my 600 Duron to 1050, 43C with TCWO fan and sink. Just ordered a FOP38....Bring the Noise :D
I would have to say that the Duron is "most processor for the monney", many peaople may dissagree with me, alot of you peaople may say the duron 600 or 650 but they ar quite hard do get your hans on... AMD don produce them any more. well the 700-750?? they are realy good to but i have heard that they are bad overclockers.. donīt know if this is aqurate though, and the price jump up to 800 i ainīt so high maybe 10 $, and they should be real nasty overclockers....
