View Full Version : Should I try for an exchange?
I picked up a DVD from Robert's Anime Corner Store. When I recieved the DVD, it had come loose in the keepcase, and the nub in the case scratched the surface a whole bunch.
I tried playing it, and it played fine, but it's not exactly mint, y'know?
Do you think I should try to get it exchanged?

Why not, it never hurts to try. The worst they can do is say no. On the other hand though, how much damage can a plastic case do? And how necessary is it for the DVD to be in mint condition? Did you buy it to watch, or is it more of an addition to a collection?
Either way, I'd still try to exchange it, most places won't give you a hard time.

I definatly would try, you payed for the item to be in perfect condition, and if its got scratched of no fault of your own, then they should swap it . Even if it does play fine, its just the point that it has a little scratch on it, when you should have recieved it as perfect condition. Wether they will swap it or not who knows you can try, it depends what the people at the store are like.

Yes. But you didnt hear it rattling around? If you give them alot of business they are likely to say yes, if not you could get turned down.

The only warranty of any kind we've got on any software, movies, music or anything like that is a media warranty, so because of that alone, I'd return anything with even the faintest hairsbreadth scratch on it. Who's to say it won't explode in your 50X DVD ROM next year though?

I'd take it back cause scratches are just asking for problems...good place for dust and dirt and other crap to collect, which will affect how it plays. ;)
Ok. I'll email the support address and see what they have to say. Thanks :)

It was an anime. FLCL DVD volume 3 w/ Limited Edition collectors' box.
Last one in the set, too.

I'de give it a try, and remember to bring your receipt and if you can, bring it with the bag you bought it in. If you bitch and complain long enough and speak with the manager on duty, you will most likely get an exchange, even if it's against their store policy.
Then again, you may be talking to the owner, and he might not care at all about pleasing his customers...
But it wouldnt hurt to try.
Well, it's an online store, so I just sent an email ;)

Cool, i'll bookmark :)
Have you had any problem with them before?
Actually, it's my first time buying something from them, but they came highly recommended.
Got an email back. They're sending me a new DVD, and they're even sending a pre-paid mailer so I can send the defective disc back!
They just went up a couple of notches in my book!

whats the URL for this store, oni?
this happened to me when i bought 'death to smoochy' at best buy, but it was as easy as running back inside and talking to their customer service (because i always open stuff in the parking lot for that very reason :D) every time i buy a dvd now, i shake it just to see if i can hear the plastic nubbies rattling around.

smack me silly and call me frankie
Ok, Frankie ;)
Yeah, they were really cool about it, actually.
I tried the Japanese track, and there are some skips in it, so I'm completely justified in sending it back. It's not their fault, it just got knocked loose in shipping.
Now if only Broccoli/Synch Point would settle on a keepcase type, we'd be all set :p
