What I'd like to see in this thread are posts from people who have found resellers who have checked the CPU codes for you prior to you buying the CPU, and the CPU you got actually matched the codes they promised you.
Thanks!
I am An AMD reseller and have my sales reps looking at me like I am a fruit cake.I am currently trying to arrange for shipments of AXIA chips. If these deft confused sales reps do there job,I will bring to the overclocking community the desired AXIA code. These chips will be sold to O/CERS only.Unless the demand is weak LOL,1GIG and up.
I hope this post is not beyond our rules here if it is I apoligize. And understand if it is removed.

so u r saying that you can ask the vendors for the code of the cpu so u know that u r gettinga blue core of what eva??

I looked at pricewatch this morning and it looks like the majority of T-birds nudged downward in price again. I guess the challenge for the value concious OC'er is finding a dealer who will both check the code and sell for the lowest price. I imagine the dealers who don't have AXIA (is that a one or a capital I?) chips will be the ones who refuse to check. It would not be in their best interest.

I would love to hear how this pans out. I bet AMD are selling those chips as 1.3 and 1.33 :¬(

Why not trying to contact someone selling a Thunderbird on eBay. I'm sure that at least some of the people you could contact would be nice enough to check, especially seeing as a vast majority of T-birds sold on eBay are OEM, and are (probably) not enclosed in a cardboard box and shrinkwrap.

Since so few vendors are likely to actually check their chip's serial numbers, I am sure that any who do could charge a slightly higher price for their chips. Obviously, if they try to charge ridiculous amounts this will not work, but adding a few dollars would probably be acceptable. After all, we are paying for a special service.
BTW: Judging from my experience with the poor customer service of many (not all!) of the lowest priced vendors on PriceWatch, I seriously doubt very many of them would check the serial numbers on their chips. And if they did claim to check, most likely they would just lie about it. For better customer service and support it seems you have to pay a few extra dollars anyway.

FYI we at the http://chillblast.netfirms.com have just obtained a number of AXIA 1 ghz T-Birds. The first of which went to 1465 mhz with only a ThermoEngine as cooling.
I do not wish to offend the moderators by posting as I know that promoting your own business is frowned upon but the thread is what it is.

Well that sucks.... those guys on the link above are in the UK. I live in canada lol!!! Probably the shipping would cost me about ...hmmm! lets see $3354343US :D. Hey I got an idea I might just swimm across the atlantic so I can own one of those damn AXIA chips. hmm.. I wonder how long that would take me....

Ed,
I may be opening a can of worms here but I am willing to do this for Overclockers readers only.

If you haven't already read it, see my post "Found an AXIA source..." The second fellow was quite sincere and if he indeed delivers, he rates out business. Unlike the first respondent, he is not adding a charge (however minimum), for checking, and his prices were quite good. Sad fact of the matter is, I had already ordered mine before he responded, so I won't be able to test him. I have a hunch, unconfirmed, that all 1.0, 1.2 and 1.33 266 chips are AXIA. I will see when mine arrives, maybe Wednsday, maybe Thursday. Anyone have a 1.0, 1.2 or 1.33 266 that is not AXIA?

Hi again,
The cost of shipping can be as low as £14 but that is neither guaranteed nor trackable. The next price is £30. Hope that helps.
