View Full Version : Any Ideas? Thoughts? 1.2 GIG CPU
Ok, After burning this CPU in for a few days, It is absolutly rock stable in all tests at 1450 mhz. However my memory scores aren't so good so I am looking to up the FSB a bit more. Right now it is at 145 with the Multi. at 10. I have tried lowering the multi. and going to 150 FSB but no go. No way is it going to 150, it starts to boot Windows and then the Windows boot up screen gets lines on it right before crashing. Do you suppose my PCI TNT 16mb Video card is holding me back? It couldn't be my Crucial memory right? I need to get a new video card anyway, but it would feel much better to fork out $200 if I knew that I could get my FSB up higher. Thanks!!!
don't know a thing about your board, but does this make sense?
150/4 = 37.5
if you set your BIOS to 8 x 150 = 1200, you will still be asking 37.5 from the PCI devices. remove all PCI cards save for the offending TNT. if there's a problem, it's probably the TNT.

Is it an AGP card? If so try lowering it to 1X, i read that sometimes that can help.
Sorry to point this out but....
Hence
"Do you suppose my PCI TNT 16mb Video card is holding me back? "
Its PCI. I think it is the problem.

Its the card. Im solid at 150 w/ 8kta3
I would say its the card. I don't think a 16mb PCI card has the grapes to stand up to serious oc'ing.

Not necessarily. Not all motherboards are created equal. I have two Asus A7v133s, one will post and run up to 155 MHz, the other will not post above 142 MHz. Two identical motherboards can vary alot in the FSB overclockability, just as CPUs also vary in overclocking potential.
