Ok-

So I have a Tbird 800 and an Iwill kk266. I did the pencil trick, rebooted with the multiplier set at 6.0 and made sure that was stable. Then I set the board to 133FSB. It ran fine, 800mhz at 133FSB.

So I turned off the computer, and left it off for about 24 hours. Next day it wont boot. I set the jumper back and fiddle with the multiplier, but it will only boot at 8x or 7x. Fine. So I get it running 933mhz at 133FSB (7x133).

For the next week or so, I dont leave the computer off for more than 8-12 hours at a time. Last night I didnt turn on the computer all night, so it was off for aobut 24 hours. This morning it wouldnt boot! Multipliers wont work at all! I can only boot at 8x100.

Any ideas? Does the pencil trick wear out if the temperature drops too low for an extended period of time? My computer room has no heat, so the temp can get pretty cold in there. (I live in the Northeast, temps have been around 30-50 deg for the last couple weeks).

Any other ideas???

Grrrr

I would say that the pencil trick wears of... maybee you used a "bad" pencil to do the trick with... i haveīnt done it.. when i get my duron i am going to use a conductive pen .. iīve also heard that you can use silver paint.. that has silver in it of course.... not just a silver colored. i donīt really know if it is the pencil that is weating of.. but i think so.
i canīt garantuee that the conductive pen or the silver paint works.... and i donīt take any reasponsability if you break something at all when using theses methods

i also heard you can use a rear window defroster repair kit to connect the bridges. Nope I haven't tried it and nope I won't be held responsible :)

The pencil trick will only work for about a couple of weeks in most cases. I unlocked mine with a rear window defogger repair kit. I tried the pencil but had wayyyyyyyyyyyy too many problems with it. Once I used the defogger repair kit, I haven't had a problem since(except when I killed my bios. LOL) You can also use a conductive pen, and if you have a reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllyyyyyyy yyyyyyy steady hand you can try soldering it(not recommended). I would recommend the conductive pen, then the defogger kit. Good luck. :-)

I have used a pencil in the past but it does stop working in time. I like a perm and reliable solution and have done about half a dozen tbirds in the past 6 months with a defroster repair kit and none of these cpu's have ever had a problem since. Check your work make sure u connected them properly, I use a 14x glass to do this.
