After deciding that my old Gateway 166mmx puter has no potential for OCing, i have decided to build from scratch. here is what i have so far... with a few questions...

AMD 800 mhz T-Bird or Duron ??
Asus MoBo - 1 agp, 5 (or 6) pci, 1 isa slot
nVidia 16meg graphx card
128 mg Ram
Case w/ xtra cooling fan

we will use my Boston audio system, Gateway 17" monitor, CD, Floppy, and 20 gig western digital HD

my quote was $525, but i will add a CD burner, so figure maybe $600.

how does this sound? please give me some recomendations, what will give me more OC flexablitity in the long run?

Go with a Plextor or TDK burner they are the best. Get the 12\10\32A Plextor $200-250 if you shop around you can get it for $200 the TDK is virtually identical to the Plextor same price and same burnproof technology
And get the T-bird if you can afford it More total cash it gives it more multi tasking ability and it has support for PC 133 RAM it Is a higher performance prosesor

Hope this helps

How much you looking to spend on a processor? If you're looking for cheap then it's the Duron you want. If you want bleeding edge, the T-bird.

Board:I don't know the EPOX board, but I think it is ok (I say this, based on what I have read in this forum).
CPU: I think u should get a Duron 600MHz, cuz they overclock great (almost all of them), and if u fry it u haven't lost very many money!
Vidcard: Take a look at some GeForce 2 MX's and some Radeon 32MB's, or maybe a GeForce 2 GTS 32MB. These are all very good cards, for a low cost.
