OK, I have TBird 900mhz. I also have the ASUS AV7 KT133 motherboard. Well what happend was I tried over clocking it with the pencil trick to bridge the jumpers on the CPU. I put it back in and I cant even get it to boot(multiplier @ 9.0)(frequency @ 100). So i took it back out and rubbed the lead off with the eraser. Put it back in and wont boot at all still. I have tried clearing my CMOS but will no help. Even tried putting the board back into Jumperless mode and still nothing. Did i kill my CPU or what did I forget to do. Was it the erasing? PLEASE give any suggestion you might have ;)

Maybe the chip is fried-how careful were u when using the pencil, you could have crossed bridges and not even known it, which could fry the chip. Never heard of this xact prob before-try borrowing another cpu and see if it boots-if so=chip if not =good(just another component)

Be more specific,do the fans fire up,or do you have zero response from the system.

Not for nothing but did you plug it in and turn the power supply on ???This question is dumb but you posted very little info.Give us INFO we CRAVE info. And the more you give the better someone can help without the dumb ass questions.

you did ground yourself before touching the chip didnt you, that is really more dangerous short term then o/cing , dont gross the bridges, may be a little late

Sorry. The computer does fire up. All four fans spin and you can here the computer go through the POST test but nothing comes out on the monitor. I have already tried two known working VID cards (still nothing). You guys are probably right tho. I think its fried. There is a white deposit around the small ship on the cpu. No its not heat sink gunk. the color is also alittle different around the same spot. I never noticed that before. Hmmm....well I ordered another chip today. 1.2 mhz.

if it's posting, but there's no video, then it's not likely to be your cpu. if the cpu was dead you wouldn't get anyhting happening. if it's not the video card, then it could be the motherboard. well, you've ordered the new chip, so i hope it's that, but don't be surprised if it's the mobo.

You might have better luck trying an a7v-only site. They are very helpful. The a7v has alot of ways out of your drama. Take a look, good articles and the know how.

an eraser would spread the lead round bridges and probably is making miner contact.
use metho on cotton bud to wipe down, its safe and dries quick.
if still no go i dare say shes shat herself.

Had the same thing once...when i changed the multiplier without unlocking the L1 bridges.

Disconnect your PSU from the wall and switch on the machine...my PSU lighted my onboard powerled for over a minute without beeing connected to the wall.

after that, my board would boot up as normal.
