View Full Version : Why does my cpu floating point go lower the more I overclock my cpu?

I can only come to one conclusion ,errors ,cause I get better scores at default , anyone else noticed this or have an athlon tb that they can compare this 2 ,thanks,here is a link to my wintune results

You didn't say how you overclocked it. IE What multiplier and what FSB setting. I ask because if you are running, say, 9x100 to get 900 and drop back to 7.5x133 to get 1000, you have just succeeded in slowing down your CPU to get faster memory read/write speed. A lot of people are sold on upping that FSB at any cost to slowing down their CPU speed. That, having been said, you probably won't see any difference in real life usage between the two. ;-)

sorry, I did'nt overclock the front side bus ,left it at 100,but had the multipliers set @10X100 , I still dont get it,thanks for the post

F***s me about problem.... must just be your luck :)
dropping fsb would do that but otherwise... *scratches head*
i know one thing and that it is ALWAYS better to up fsb.
when using multiplyer alone, all your affect is the performance of the cpu,but when upping fsb the performance of ram is also increased and cpu acces times are cranked too. if you use unstandard numbers (anything above usual 66, 100, 133) u can also squeeze more mhz outta pci and agp.
