View Full Version : New System ... Yeh or Nay?
Hi guys, just a quick post asking if this would be a worthy new set of components for an overclock:
1700+ AMD t/bred B (need 2 find one first)
Soltek KT-400 "Golden Flame"
Asus GF4 Ti 4200
Yeh or nay?

If you can get a decent deal, then I say sure, go for it. You will be able to overclock those things very respectably. I do not know much about the soltek, but since it is a kt400, it should do ok. I would go for an Nforce2 board myself though.
yeh go Nforce2! you will get a much better OC! But it does look fine! what other stuff are you using? Ram & cooling?

Yeh go with soltek. I would really recommend the version of the board in my sig. Or even just the l version. Only diff is RL has sata raid. Go with Nforce 400 ultra. Don't go with kt-400.
I also think it would be the little bit to upgrade to a barton 2500. They aren't a hole lot more are they? You wouldn't have to overclock if you got a barton and if you did want to it would be waiting to see what you could do to it.
lol, My 2 cents.
I would suggest going with the nForce2. The KT400 is a respectable board, but the nForce2 chipset will take you a lot further.

nforce2!!!!!!! is this enough ppl to convince you to change yet? =d
for overclocking like you said i would go woth the Abit NF7-S, they have been hitting some really high speeds and are apparently great all round boards. The soltek will be a good board also, just not as good as the Abit in terms of overclockability. By the way what memory are you puttig in it also? that has a great affect on what sort of overclock you will be able to maintain.

1. Cheapest guaranteed T-Bred B? $49 free shipping

2. Heatsink: all copper Thermalright SK-7

You will not find a better value than $14.99 SK-7, look no further.
3. Don't forget a fan, nothing too loud, but pretty much any 80x25mm will do with SK-7.

Look for directions on how to apply thermal paste (it comes with sk-7) but this is a good one:
