That good ole 2500+! Gotta love it. You just have to start low and work up til you find her sweet spot. U can use 200X12, run the mem IN SYNC! you can get more out of that board if its a ver 2 w/1004 bios. I ran 210X12 stable with 5222 dual chan ram timings (OCZ 2X256) But Asus boards like the one you have with the V chipset prob dont like the corsair mem like the n chip. Lots of peeps have have many probs with the corsair mem not working well in many applications. GOOD LUCK, and may the OC god be good to your stuff!

I have the regular A7N8X with the 2500+.

Just got it togethor monday. This is my first OC, so I don't know much either.

Right now I have it at 190*11.5 (2185) with memory in sync in dual channel. I think the ram is at 7-3-3-2.5 right now. It's Geil 3200.

At first, my system wouldn't start with the Geil ram in DC. Had to put them in SC (2x 512mb). I found that when I lowered the fsb to match the 2500+ at 166, I could then start it up in DC. I've moved it up to 190fsb and it still works. I might try 200 again to see if it will go. I did bump the ram .1v since I heard that this ram needs it, so maybe it will do 200 now. The ram was only $81 each, so I didn't expect much. I'm already happy with running a 2500+ at a 3000+ and the ram in DC already.

Runs at 43-45 idle and it never went past 50c during Prime95 for the 30min I ran it. Seeing how the temp is already high with mild cooling fans and 5hds in there, I think I call it quits soon. Though, trying 200*11 will only increase the cpu like 16mhz, but increasing the ram bandwidth and hopefully keeping temps the same.

I'm using the SLK-800-u for my heatsink, but with a quiet fan. I'm sure my temps would improve if I put one of those tornados on it.

What heatsink are you using, stock?

I apprieciate you advice guys but this the:
A7"V"8X not the A7"N"8X

yes it the VIA KT400 chip set.
im gonna find out the Mobno version # and chip stepping tonight when i get home!

temps 47C no load and 50 C loaded!

I had the a7v8x and 2500 barton with 1x512 corsair pc 2700 LLPT memory ,steppings are aquca 0306 vpaw . the best i could get from it was @ 176x12.5 =2200 MHZ prime 95 failed but was stable never crashed ! now @ 175x12.5 @ 2187 passed prime and stable ,load temp was 48c> I hope that helps

Dont use the stock h/s .........youre temps are high ..........50c is that on probe ? if it is its way to high!........

you need beter cooling ......and higher v core (not until you sort out youre heat sink tho)!!!!!!!!!:D :D

it could also be youre northbridge overheating;)

50c way too high?

Um... my cpu goes up to like 60c in probe sometimes after using the comp all day... and its at stock speeds and vcore!

On your A7V8X when you Suspend to RAM (S3) does your multilpier stay at when you set it to in the BIOS if you changed it from its default?

On mine and several others it does not and I believe it to be a BIOS bug. I have tried it with several BIOS's the latest being 1014 final but none worked.

Therefore when the machine comes out of S3 suspend the multiplier is reset to 11x ie the default.

Does this happen on all VIA chipsets?
