I recently bought an Acorp O/C board, Athlon 900 Socket A. I cant change the multiplier, the chip is locked (I do know the rear defogger trick), BUT I can change the bus. my options range from 100, 101, 102, 103, 105, 107, 109, 110, 111, 113, 115, 117, and 133.3 I know because of the internal setup the Athlon has, it automatically doubles the FSB. My board also came with a utility that measures the temp (C or F), and also has notes that say that 122 degrees F is the overheating point. SO, am I to assume once I unlock my Athlon, I can manipulate the speed?

I'm not familiar with Acorp, but if it supports changing the multiplier, then once you enable changing on your CPU by unlocking the L1 paths, it should allow you to change it.

it doesnt allow me to change the multiplier, just the FSB.... My options are listed above... Is it safe to make the FSB higher than 100? obviously the 100 is the doubled for the 200 FSB... 101= 202 , 110=220..... etc

...regarding the high FSB, with the pencil trick, my 650mhz Duron oced well at 145mhz fsbX5= 725mhz, while PCI bus is only 34mhz. But I could not raise the system higher than 733mhz no matter how I tried ... like 100x8=800, 133x5.5, 100x7.5... none of these set up worked for me but I like the 145mhz FSBx5=725mhz. The system seems peppier than with 100mhz FSB.

ok, I did have a brief question.... since I am able to change the FSB of the board, do I really need to make the bridge on the cpu?

Yes you will still need to unlock the chip. And if you look on mother board are there dipswitches that will change the multiplier.I only ask cause I never heard of that M/B.

If, as you say, your motherboard does not allow you to change the multiplier, then there is no benefit to enabling the multiplier (L1) traces. Raising the FSB should not endanger your hardware as long as you have sufficient cooling.

Even without unlocking the Bridges (which is pointless unless your MB lets you change the multiplier) you can still overclock through the FSB.

This is how all Celerons and PIII's overclock.

I have a TB900 and havnt unlocked it yet.

It will run 111X9 = 1000Mhz @ 1.70v (default is 1.75v) remember, the lower the voltage, the less heat the CPU will make.

I also have had it running 1038Mhz (1.75v) which is 115x9 and it loaded windows 98se fine and I ran 3dmark... Wasnt having any cooling problems. I never really tried to see if it was stable at that speed, but my guess is that it was (hence no 3dmark2000 crashes).

I have a FOP32-1 cooler BTW...

You should be able to get at least a Ghz out of that chip without needing to unlock the CPU.

Later next week I will be lapping the FOP32-1 and putting a Panaflo HO (39cfm) fan on it, making it basically a FOP38. Also I will unlock the CPU, and I will let everyone know how fast she'll go.
