I know this will probably do nothing , but its worth a try anyways. This is a petition to have VUGames (Not Valve) bring back its release date back to September 30th. If you want hl2 to be released september 30th then please sign this petition. These signatures will be sent to VUGames in about 2 weeks time. My thanks and Regards ~

eh?

yea, im more than sure this will do nothing. What if its delayed because of bugs? You think the programers are gonna start working 80 hour weeks to get the release date back to sep. 30?

BTW i signed it:Dhttp://www.hstuners.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup-orange.gif

Im sure this would do little effect if anything. BTW, assuming that you made another account just to have HL2_petition... the mods are going to delete that account since there is only one account per user allowed on the forums (just a heads up)

Signed it as well, it would be nice if they can make it available, then possibly updates later?

not only is this pointless, but why would you want to anyway?
I am sure they have good reasons for delaying the release date. Id rather get a fully finished product late than something half assed early.

groundbraking idea, lets make a similar one for duke nukem forever, get it out pronto :)

but seriously, I dunno even if they ever intended for HL2 to come out on september, probably just keeping us hapless consumers on our toes.

I agree...these petition things don't help much...I'd rather a finalized working product than an early beta that will ruin my gaming experience.

Guys.... they are going to get it out as fast as they can to make money. This petition is pointless, sorry. Actually, it just shows them that we are very interested in the game, and will undoubtedly buy it WHENEVER it comes out.

I would much rather have it released late and be less buggy than have it rushed to be released September 30th and be full of bugs. Based on the movies I've seen about it so far, it will be worth the wait!

Umm... I thought valve said that it was infact going to be released then? I read and GamePro or somehting that it was going to be released during the holidays. last I checked, this wasnt confirmed by Valve, but some magazine or website or something. I would rather wait for the official word from Valve, although I am pretty sure the denied it....

I couldn't agree more. SimCity4 was pushed back, but the entire community said "OMG GIVE US TEH GAME!!!" and then EA told Maxis, "Have it ready by mid February." Result? A game that didn't work until a patch was finally released 6 mother ******* months AFTER THE RELEASE.

I don't care if HL2 takes until late 2006, I just don't want to buy a rushed game and then have to wait forever while the developers put together a patch to fix things, that shouldn't have been broken in the first place.

Sure! This is exactly what I want to do! I want to take what could be the greatest game ever created, which is being hit by setbacks, pushed forward in release to it's original date, so the game company will be forced to put out an unfinished project, once again forcing me to pay $50 for a game that doesn't work right.

This is a novel idea for sure! I can't imagine why every tool in the nation hasn't signed this petition...

How selfish can you possibly get?

Okay have any of these online petitions actually changed ANYTHING? Somebody show me some evidence of that and I will be both surprised and impressed.

This one is especially lame because it is petitioning against a good thing. IF Valve pushes back the release date of Half Life 2 it is above all else in our interest.

The owner of every name on that little list would post something like this if the game were to be released too buggy.

"Ugh this is crap. Why in the world did Valve release this game in such an unfinished state? This is truly a new low. Why oh why did I spend $50 on this piece of beta garbage?!"

Oh we've all seen it.. I'm sure you can find posts like that about every PC game that gets released period. I'm glad people in real life don't act like the spoiled children that they are on the internet. Forgiveness and patience don't really have a place online.

I, for one, will applaud a game or even a software manufacturer who is brave enough to push back or delay a release of there product. This means that they are truly working to satisfy all of our needs or wants for a particular reason.

To try to 'force' them to reconsider and release a game early is just nonsense. I mean, come on guys, did you really like that game that you bought for all that money that had all of those bugs in it.

I will wait patiently for the release of the game and enjoy it once it gets here.

BTW...ditto about the 'online' petitions, i have yet to see or hear about one that made a difference or an impact to the cause it was written about.

Seriously, I really wish game companies would stop giving out ship dates and release dates. They should just say, it will be ready once it is ready.

1) Online petitions DO NOT WORK!

2) Would you like to have an immersive, problem-free experience w/ HL2, or would you prefer it to crash to desktop every 5 minutes 'cause it was rushed out the door.

I'm betting the former, which is why HL2 was pushed back I would imagine.

Thats fine. I'm sure Oni realises that. But him and I can't help but give a piece of our minds to one who would sign up for a message board (look at his name) and post something like this because he wanted us to sign it.. AND thought it would make any difference.

You know what now that I think about it there WAS one online petition that made some noise. This one (http://www.petitiononline.com/junjun/petition.html). If you recall it made news and the Soul Train people were not all too happy about it. MADE NO DIFFERENCE of course, but this is as close as one of them has come.

They can't really do that. A lot of times, these release dates are made for investors and the parent companies that run them (in Valve's case, I believe it's Sierra). Sierra, the corporation, won't look to kindly upon a team that says, "it'll be ready when we're good and ready." From a financial standpoint, they need to know at least ballpark when it'll be done so they can make financial forecasts on their company and plan for future resource allocations, profit margins, blah, blah, blah, etc., ad nauseum.

If the gaming industry has shown us anything, it's that it isn't good, well programmed games that sell well, it's marketing and public perception that sells games. This is why Sims and Expansion Pack #2390428349082 is flying off the shelves whereas deeper games such as Civ 3 among others don't sell quite as well.

Release dates are good for the company but generally bad for developers and gamers. In the end, the almighty dollar usually wins out :(.

I kinda got that feeling. For fun, we should go to that online petition place and make a petition to end the online petition website :D

Now that i do think of it, i do recall games that were released and had crapped filled of bugs and i couldn't even get it to work without the patches/updates. After remembering the pain it brought me i wish it would never happen agian :p

With the release date thing, they should just say what year and season it will be released :)

Yea, this entire world revolves around paper, without it the world would stop spinning and explode... isn't that great?

So pointless...

This reminds me of that petition to "grant oc forums newegg affil" or whatever. I mean newegg would need to approve of that, not the other way around.

Same here, its not like you can get 500 people to sign a petition therefore making a company bring back its release date. Let them finish, i would rather have a very complete and good game then a half-assed, rushed game.

I agree 100%. Let'em do whatever they need to do to make the game better.

I think it's mainly a small ploy to hype the game up for the consumers. This is so that the word spreads and when it finally is released, the company has everyone in front of the stores before they are even open. Still, the game looks amazing and I don't think they are as evil as Blizzard...nobody can top them...they get high off their profits.
If they do actually release on time, with only minor bugs, they will have an instant popularity for keeping their word and honesty that they have everything under control and don't create false propaganda.
