hollywood magic decoder
16x slot dvd
52x cdrom
tdk 16x cdrw
zip 100
1.44 floppy

ok, so everything is put together and i just wanted to see if i could install windows so i could play some games. so i run bios and everything looks good and then i put in a win 98 boot disk, and the cd, but it says boot disk failure, please insert boot disk. so what is the deal?? i remember a maximum pc article that said they installed windows from the cd because they didnt want a floppy tp ruin the look of their case. so i wonder if anyone knows what to do please. should i change my boot order of items or something. please help me oh god im dying over here, i am having vid game withdrawls!!!!!!!! email me, respond or something

you can also boot with a win95 boot disk or install dos and then install your cd-rom driver and then install your win98. after i install my os i always copy the win98 cd to my hard drive (if you have the room, takes up about 200 mb or so). then i reinstall it again. for the rest of your life if the pc ever needs a file from the win98 cd it will get it of your hard drive automatically. Another idea would be to remove the hard drive from your pc and put it in as a secondary in another computer. copy your win98 cd contents to a folder on your hard drive. put the hard drive back in your computer and boot with a boot disc or dos and then install directly from the hard drive. hard drive installations take half as long as cd installs too.

To boot from the CD all you have to do is change the boot order in the BIOS. You will probably need to set it to CD, Floppy, IDE. Then it will check for a cd to boot from when you turn your PC on. Put your windows CD in and it will ask to boot from it.

Unless you have the original Win98 there is a good chance that your CD is bootalbe just set a cdrom drive as the fist boot device in bios and see if that works

Check the leads from the foppy drive. In bios set floppy as 1st boot and enable floppy seek.

If disk is corrupted you will obviosuly need another one.

Sounds like you have the system booting to the H/D not the floppy.I always get thet error cause I disable floppy seek and set H/D to first boot device.

I had this happen to me and it turned out that the IDE cable was backwards. And it was even key'd. So you might wan't to make sure that pin 1 on the floppy drive goes to pin 1 on the motherboard. I had to do some modifying with a pair of dikes to get it to work.
