I have decided to go with an EPoX EP-8KTA+ board for cost and expandibility. But some of the reviews i have read say that i will need a cpu that doesn't have something "locked" on it in order to OC it? voltage maybe ? i am building this system for value first, so a Duron is my first choice, after that i need a good quality Video card to compliment it, i was looking at nVidia or ATI, any recomendations?

If your looking at 800-700 mhz range, I would suggest trying to find a thunderbird. The slower Tbirds in the 800 range are getting really close to the price of a 800 duron.
Also, if your going to stick to durons, I would say get the 700. Most of them clock up to 900-1gig anyway, and the extra 100 won't get you anywere, because they seem to all have the same core.

I got a ATI Radeon LE becaues It was cheap, and performs just as well as the Gefore gts at 32bit color.

The only thing is that you have to overclock the LE, and enable the HYPERZ in D3D with a reg hack, or get a program that does it for you. (free)

I am not sure if the 8KTA can change multiplier ratio.... I know the 8KTA2 and 8KTA3 can.... it doesn't matter a hill of beans if you "unlock" your CPU but your mobo can't change the multiplier.... Otherwise, good choices. If a TBird 700 and a Duron 800 are similar in price, I'd go Tbird. even though it will not OC as high, the extra cache will help it perform, and it'll OC at least 100 MHz or so anyway. You certainly can't go wrong buying a GeForce2 or a Radeon these days.

I got a 8kta3 from newegg.com for $112 shipped. it has adjustments for everything you could ever need in the bios.. I love this board. I also got a tbird 750 for $72 and while I have not unlocked it, i do have it running at 7.5 x 133fsb = 1001mgz!!! I love this thing, way faster than my my celery 333 @ 500.
