i dunno whats wrong

i just installed in cd-rom drive on my new computer and the little green light in the front of the drive keeps flashing and making weird clicking noise and after i turn on my computer, it takes about 5-10 seconds before my cd-rom drive starts blinking and making the noises... can anyone help?

I've never seen that before. Is it possible you put the IDE cable in upside down? It's keyed to fit in one way but you CAN put a square peg in a round hole with enough force. Post some more info about your computer. Power supply wattage, cpu, motherboard, Cd drive. That'll help us help you.
