C:\WINDOWS\Temp and other files to delete...

I have things in my C:\WINDOWS\Temp folder that have been there for weeks/months. I assume they are safe to delete, but just want to double check to be safe. So are they?

Other files that I want to delete are these files in my C:\ drive (primary partition obviously) that are more or less unidentified. Their icons are just that generic type when no program is associated w/ it. And when I drag my mouse of it it'll say among other things "Type: File." They also have weird names like t1gs, t1t8, t300.2, t38s, etc. I am assuming the 't' at the beginning of the filename just stands for temporary, but I'm not completely sure. These files just slowly add up, I have about 15 now. I remember before I reformatted several months ago I had many more than that.

i delete all my temp files alllll the time. never had any problems with it. if you want to be realllly safe, back em up or something before you do it, although im pretty sure that's not necessary unless you put something in there yourself.

about the other files. i dont know what they are. some of them might be necessary. sometimes when my counter-strike crashes and i have to do a hard reboot, i get a new file in C:\ that i just delete.. sounds kinda like your t1t8s and stuff..

JUST DELETE ALL TEMP CRAP!

I would def delete the files in the temp folder but be wary of deleting files that you are confused about.

To be on the safe side, check out a program called Windows Washer.

It will scan your folder for temp files that can be deleted safely.

And while you are checking your computer for unnecessary files be sure to run Adaware to get rid of those spybots

Yea I already have Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy and use them on a regular basis. I will check out the Windows Washer prog though. It sounds familiar, I have prolly used it before. Thanx.
