Ok this is just making me mad. .Hack Infection is great idea of an RPG but seriously this game only took 12 hours to beat. That is VERY pathetic. Normally a good RPG will take around 30-40 hours to beat not including all the AFK BIO's and side missions. This game seriously has me wondering if this is the new route that RPG's are going. I dont want to buy 4 games to make 1 game. The only series I am willing to do that for is Xenosaga because a part of the series took me 45 hours to beat. What do you guys think?

The thing w/ .hack//INFECTION is that it's part of a greater thing, so to speak. It's connected to the anime .hack//SIGN and .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. It fills in some of the story for those animes.

but who wants to pay $50 for each of them when they are apparently so short?

most FPS's are probably longer than 12 hours. hell, i'm about 34 hours into FF7 and i'm only barely on the second disk.

thanks for the warning about this game, i don't even have a ps2 but my friend was thinking about getting it.

Yea guys I am not joking. I even took about 3 hours to buff up my charactors to make the final dungeon VERY easy for my main charactors before beating the end guy. So in all reality this game is beatable in under 10 hours.

As Oni said this is an add on to the anime series. For all those who haven't seen it and don't value the continuence of the .hack anime series....Wait for the next Xenosaga...I beg of you.

i think i saw it for 34.99. i wanted to get it simply cause it looked pretty cool.

maybe you're good at RPG's. some of us can demolish RPG's. my stepbrother can beat FF2 (yes 2 SNES owns you for days) in about 8 hours. he has misc little cheats like saving all the swords cecil gets since tower of babel and than uses them to dart with edge at the end for some hella damage.

That isn'r really beating a RPG there emaricanchaos...

Huh? Are you saying it does not count because his brother has beating FF4 down to a science? As long as he uses no cheat codes its not cheating :)

Anyway that game is from back in the day when RPGs were still quick and dirty.. when you didn't have to wait 30 seconds for battle to load and the camera to pan around your party and the monsters melodramatically.

Anyway, to be completely impertinent the anime .hack//sign was totally lame. Did any of you guys see it? It was the slowest, most boring anime series I've ever tried to watch. The production value was high but nothing happened from about episode one until episode 14 (when I stopped watching). And I am not exaggerating when I say nothing. The characters just sit around and talk about the weather. Okay back to the game..

Greg Kasavin from the Gamespot review
Actually, one of the most disappointing aspects of the game is that the plot itself is cut short before anything of interest happens or before anything is resolved. It's fine that Bandai intends for this to be the first in a series of games, but it's not fine that the developers created an initial chapter that offers no real sense of development. Mysterious characters are introduced, some intriguing events take place...and that's it. You don't really learn anything about anyone, and you don't really come any closer to getting to the bottom of the supposed conspiracy. Plus, a number of the other player characters who join you are completely irrelevant to the proceedings.

...

Vibrant graphics at least make the game enjoyable to look at.

...

The game sounds good, too....

Wow it seems like the games are the same as the series! Or at least the first of the two is. The story goes nowhere yet the production value is good.

Greg Kasavin from the Gamespot review
You can finish the game in 20 hours or less, though you can continue playing after that, unlocking some secrets and finding better equipment. Subsequent installments in the series will optionally allow you to export your character data, continuing on from where you left off. And hopefully future installments won't merely offer more of the same random hack-and-slash gameplay along with another 15-20 hours' worth of story that doesn't go anywhere.
Ha don't count on it...

I'll leave you guys with a little flame bait. All that is 'hack' has the same feel and philosophy as the MMORPGs formula it is based on. That being a totally pointless waste of time.

.hack//sign is good dude, just the beginning is so slow its like a chore to watch it but it gets alot better, you shouldve watched the rest of it. i dont see how you can say it sucks when you only watched HALF the series.

btw you didnt watch the dub did you? the voices are so freakin horrible, especially tsukasa and mimiru's

I didn't say it sucked, I said it "It was the slowest, most boring anime series I've ever tried to watch." And I stand by that wording.

The first 14 episodes were indeed the dullest anime I've ever watched. I kept waiting for something... ANYTHING to happen but it never did. A man gets tired of waiting eventually. I think I gave the anime a really good shot at holding my interest by waiting 14 episodes. It failed, I stopped watching.

No I'm not the kind of guy who gets bored if there is not an action scene every 5 minutes. .hack//sign would not have been so bad if all the endless conversations between the characters were either interesting or led to anything but another pointless conversation.

No I watched the sub. Mimiru's voice was probably my favorite part of the whole anime. She had a very cute and expressive speaking style.

Have you seen Berserk? Now that is an anime that tells a damn good story :)

Perhaps. But I go on to say I only watched the first 14 episodes and my opinion reflects only the first 14. But honestly.. are you telling me that after a certain point the anime totally shifts gears... stops all the long drawn out and pointless conversations and gets incredibly interesting?

Ah but this (http://www.animeworld.com/readerreviews/dothack.html) review agrees with me so who is right? ;)

Here is the deal. Okay the anime might have gotten better but I just got sick of waiting.. and I seriously doubted it was a 'night and day difference'. The series could have easily cut 4 hours out of what I saw and kept all the same plot.. this was a 13 episode plot stretched out to 26 episodes.

The long and short of it is it worked for you. It didn't work for me. I'm cool with that if you are :p

like the review i linked: its a love or hate anime but i dont think you should go around saying how bad it is until youve seen the entire thing

but you have to agree on one thing and that is the music is amazing :D

edit:

taken from the review you linked: "I was watching this on Cartoon Network (as usual), " AND he calls the dub good

obviously this review was written by a 12 year old cartoon network dbz fan. anyways..

try watching the rest of it i think youll like it

I did say that I only saw the first 14 episodes and they were lame. I did not say I'd seen the whole thing. In any case any anime that takes 14+ episodes to go anywhere is lame no matter what happens afterwards. In my last post I basically said 'lets agree to disagree' if you didn't catch it.

Yes the music is great I have the soundtrack :D

yes you said that but youre giving it a bad name to people who havent seen it even though its really good and i was just saying you should watch the whole thing before you pass judgement on it

however, i will 'agree to disagree'.

I agree w/ you wholeheartedly, Gnerma. I'm on ep 13, and it still ain't moving much.

W/ the way my friend talked about it (su root), I thought I'd be absolutely floored, but Tsukasa is about as interesting as a big bowl of nothing. All they do is friggin' sit around and talk! They could use IRC for that, and not burn their monthly fee doing that in game.

Don't get me wrong, the anime does have promise, but they could've done it better in 13 eps, not 27.

part of mmorpgs is role playing and thats what theyre doing when theyre talking all the time. easier done in the game than on irc. anyways theyd still have to pay the same amount cause mmorpgs cost the same amount per month no matter how long youre on

Yeah, its just another cash cow like yugi oh. If I wrote/storyboarded like that anime moves I would never work again.
