I have an Athlon 1Ghz and an ASUS A7V133 mobo. I have a problem trying to achive a FBS of 133. The CPU has no problem to go to 1.1Ghz (10*110) but when I try to lower the multiplier to be able to increase the FSB the system does not boot up. What can I do to fix this or is it impossible?

have you tried upping the i/o voltage and/or the vcore?

Mines the same way, It wont boot at FSB of anything over about 120. It could have something to do with the rest of the parts in your system like the ram, the nic card, video card (if it's an AGP card). I think thats where my problem lies. Those other parts simply wont run at the higher speeds.

What chipset does your mobo use? If it's the KT133, you are lucky even to get 110 out of it. KT133's have alot of trouble going above 105-110 usually though I have seen some as high as 120 or so. If you want the 133 fsb you need a mobo with the KT133A chipset. :-)

The A7V133 uses the KT133A chipset.
How does the CPU run at default? You have to start from there and work your way up. Just because the chipset is good for 133+FSB, dosen't necessarily mean that your CPU will like it up there.

My mobo uses the VIA Apollo KT133A chipset and the CPU runs at (10*100) default. My video card is a VIVID(Power VR series3). The problem is that by increasing my FSB the processor overclocks without any problems but when I touch the multiplier(i.e reduce it to 7-8.5) the system does sot boot up and I have to change the jumpers to make it run again. Is there something I can do??

PS My ram is PC133

Are the multiplier enable traces (L1) cut? You want all four of them closed. There are various methods to accomplish this.

I dont know. Are they on the CPU??? My case is a little crouded and it is difficult for me to know. Could you show me a picture of how they should be?

I have not yet tried to increase the VCORE voltage. Should I increase it to 1.85v?? Would this help?

the ever asked question!! look on the cpu itself. you're not going to be able to see or do anything properly with the cpu in the case, so take it out if you're comfy doing that.

then have a look at the proc. you'll see loads of markings round the die (the core in the center) and a couple of resistor packs. the gold markings are sets of gold bridges. each set has a label; "L#" where # is a number. you want the L1 bridges. there are 4 of 'em on our cpu. the bridges consist of paris of gold dots, that are either joined or open. if they're open, you want 'em closed! this can be accomplished with a steady hand and a pencil, rear-window defogger kit or a conductive pen. search the forum for posts including some of the above words and you should get about a million threads. read up on this, and then close your bridges. this enables the multiplier to be changed, and lowered in your case.

good luck, and don't hesitate to ask for help if you're still stuck after reading up. :)

Great!!!! Thanks!!!!!

I will check the CPU tomorrow since it is already night and I am lazy. I will tell you what happens tomorrow.

good luck, and BE CAREFUL when removing and installing your heatsink. take your time and always do it when the motherboard's out of the case. you can chip and kill your processor if you're rushed or careless. but you won't be, so it's okay.. :)

Yeah I did it. I had all the bridges open but I closed them with the pencil trick. It took about 10mins in total and it was worth it. Again thanks for the help. The only problem I have is that the chip is getting very hot(60deg-65deg) I need to buy a new colling system since mine is really crappy. Do you have any suggestions?

Without getting too extravagant, myself and many others have had good results with Global Win.
I've got two DURON 600's clocked at or above 1100 with Global Win 32's plus additional case fans

the only personal experience i have is with the alpha pal6035, with a delta 38cfm fan, and it rocks. many people also recommend the following: alpha pep66, globalwin fop38, swiftech 462a (very expensive) and joe raved about the new millenium cooler (got one on the way, let everyone know when i get it).

don't run your proc that hot for any length of time. it's just not worth it risking it. rather wait till you have you're good cooler. i buy from here (http://www.2cooltek.com) and they're very good.

I got the same exact problem my sys has a ASUS a7v133 with raid VIA apollo Kt133a chipset 1.2ghz athlon 266bus AXIA chip and when i put my multiplier @ 9.0x times the 133 Fsb thing in my bios it and i save changes i go into windows then when i shut down and i put my compback on it usually most of the time goes back to 9.0x times 100bus and my ram is pc133 ram I duno why it did that i think im gona close my L1 bridges like u did hopefully this will fix it causei was telling the guy im like hmm i need a newmother board this 1 must be defective hes says cause i put to copper screws which the mother board went over he says i messed my motherboard which is bs the screws were in there about for a week and i barely used the comp i had no idea why it went back to 9.0x times 100 instead of the correct speed of 9.0x times 133 and my damn CPU temps were hot 141f 61c in my asus probe and Bios showed it lower but then again in the bios i dont got windows runing either so that does increase the temp if u would plz read my post were it says 1.2 @ 1.6 maybe u can help me i duno how to increase my voltage sum guy says i gota do sumthing with my L7 bridges plz read my post iam tierd of goin 3 miles to my comp store i just want the comp to work rite and my damn Game freezes after 1hr of the comp on i have a cool master fan with heatsink which sux by tomma i will have my global win $26 fan with arctic silver 2 thermal gel maybe that will help so i can possibly overclock also ty...
