View Full Version : K6-2 500
Well I got my roomates K6-2 500 up to 550. I got it to post at 600 but not too much more than that. To get it to 550, I had to raise the voltage to 2.7 from 2.2, and change the multiplier to 5.5. The FSB is set to 100. I cant even go to 105 FSB cause the system just hangs. I think it's the generic PC100 ram thats in there thats keeping the FSB down to 100. At least it's something.

Sounds like a similar situation to mine... I had to increase core voltage to 2.8 to get mine to 560....
The K6-2's really suck for overclocking.

And, on top of that, the AMD factory HSF is glued onto the dang chip! I'm gonna havta pry it off there if I wanna put a better one on there.

You should do water cooling.....
Then boast about getting a gig out of a K6-2 500
Then when you upgrade you have a kickin coolin system. :)
that would be funny 1g out of a k62 500
but what board are you using ?
and i dont think it would go that high any way
lol not enough volts
It's a Gigabyte GA 7 or something like that. The multiplier goes to 6 and the FSB will go to 124. The voltage will go all the way up to about 3.5 or something like that. Plenty of volts. The CPU will post at 600 but windoze freaks out.
