alright now, I am fuming.... After all the registry problems, I still have questions.... My MoBo has jumpers to change the FSB, My CPU is locked... I now know I cannot over clock with just using the FSB, I feel that is whats giving me my registry problems. NOW, what happens if I unlock the cpu? I have no way of changing the multiplier, only FSB. Will it automatically go to Multiplier 9? or will it just adjust itself to coincide with the FSB? I need some help, or someone will find a brand spanking new machine in the middle of Main St in Harrodsburg ,KY

Don't use the drag and drop utility yet :). What mobo are you using? What voltage is your Tbird set too? And if you unlock the Bird you can set the multiplier upto 12.5X depending on the mobo. It will not fluctuate as it is not a frequency like the bus is. Your registry errors could be due to insufficient cooling or lack of voltage normally the culprit. Also if you have a weak peripheral card (PCI,AGP,ISA) could be telling Windows "this bus is killing me!" :). So you could try pulling out everything besides your video card and try again if you don't want to use the "pencil trick" on you Tbird. Also make sure that the divider on your Video card is set 2/3-1/2 instead of 1/1 if it is AGP. So try those see if it will help you get into Windows.

I dont know how to set the AGP. The Voltage is 1.78 I dont have any way of changing that... The MoBo is an Acorp O/C'ing board, the only jumpers on the board are the cmos, and the FSB. I have changed the FSB to diff settings, but thats when i get the errors. I have not unlocked it yet, because I have no way of changing the multiplier... i was wondering what happens if i did unlock it, what does the multiplier go to(setting)?

You must have had another thread going that I haven't seen, so I'm not familiar with your setup or registry errors.

You say you cannot change the multipliers...what then, is the one multiplier setting you have to work with, 9 X only?..

What processor do you have?

A locked cpu is set for 100 mhz. If your board allows other frequencies, what are they? a locked cpu will sometimes run at 110 or maybe 115 mhz.

Does your mainboard have raid?

What kind of ram, and cas latency?...

These are some of the things ppl will have to know before thay can begin to suggest things to try

My MoBo has settings for Bus Speed only.

CPU is listed above

NO raid

128M PC133

Any Bus speed I have selected always came up as multiplied by 9
I set it at 100= 900 110=990 115=1035 133.3=1199.7

Have you checked the BIOS? This is generally where the information for you AGP and peripherals are at. You may have the clock multiplier settings in the BIOS as well as the voltage. If not I would see if you could return the mobo for an Abit,Asus, or Iwill KT133A motherboard.
