but i keep hearing great things about amd and there over clockability - i cant get my 1.2 to budge - i got it to 1266 but locked and crashed after gaming

do any of these seem wrong to you?

First off a amd t bird 1.2 ( supposivly unlocked )
asus a7v133 - jumper free 200/266 mhz fsb socket a motherboard
256 mb synch.dimm pc133 oem sdram
thermaltake super orb heatsink fan
with about 3 case fans - 2 blowing out 1 in
currently voltage set in jumper free mode
dsw switches set at 133mhz
multiplier set at 9 x
I/o voltage setting ( vio ) 3.45 - hmmm defualt? maybe up this for overclocking....( but only options are lower and test mode!)

question - should my ata100/raid 0 setting be on raid or ata 100? i use ata 100 for both hard drives

jumper free mode jen is set on jumper mode
thats about it on the motherboard, chip, ram, fans are new - everything is new - all drivers and bios is updated to the newset

thanks for your time

What kind of temps are you getting on the chip? And are you positive it was unlocked? Never know, maybe you got unlucky.

Most people on this board are going to tell you that you need better cooling, at least thats my guess.

What voltage do you have your core set at?

voltage is set in jumper free mode cause when i put it at 1.8 it locked and its not overheating - and it has good airflow and fans. My buddy looked at it and said it was unlocked so - i dunno - im new to amd

thanks anyway

some of the 1.2's are not very overclockable. I had 1 that I could run at 1280 but that was about it. I rma'd that sucker back and got a 1.2 266 cpu that was code avia and now I can run up to 1420. I was really hoping for an axia cpu and possibly reach 1500+mhz, but 1400+ is acceptable for my needs (at least until palomino and dual cpu boards! ) On the brighter side, even if amd cpu's wouldn't overclock at all they are still a better deal than *ntel cpus :)
